Marvel Rivals delivers a fresh take on the hero shooter genre, blending Overwatch-like gameplay with a distinctly Marvel vibe. As a fan of both competitive games and Marvel comics, I found the experience both exciting and immersive.

What I Loved:

Gameplay: The core mechanics feel great. The destructible environments add a unique layer of strategy and map manipulation that sets it apart from similar games.

Characters: The roster is impressive, and the heroes feel true to their comic book counterparts in both appearance and abilities.

Aesthetic and Skins: The skins are not only visually stunning but also tie in well with gameplay and the overall Marvel aesthetic.

Room for Improvement:
The biggest drawback is the progression system. The leveling and reward structure feels underwhelming, akin to a mobile game model where you're incentivized to log in daily for minimal gains. Beyond achievements, leveling feels pointless after unlocking the single friend code at level 5 and ranked mode at level 10. It would be much more satisfying if players earned meaningful rewards, like additional skins or currency, for leveling up.

Recommendation:
As a free-to-play game, Marvel Rivals is a no-brainer to try out. Even if it were priced at $39.99 (Overwatch when it was released), I’d still recommend it for the fun gameplay, iconic characters, and creative strategy elements. However, I hope the developers address the progression system to make the experience even better.
