At it's current state I cannot recommend this game. It is a good game, a great game in fact. It plays very well and the sound design is handled very well, but none of this even matters if you can't play the game. The servers somehow keep getting worse the more the days go on. At first it was just quick match being kinda broken, some crashes here and there. Then they patched it and performance got worse, quick match was still broken, and still crashed. They then rerolled the patch. Then they patched it again and added login limits, but quick match was still broken and it still crashes here and there. Now they have a new patch, where quick match doesn't find people, so maybe they fixed the crashing; they said they did. Login limits are still there and sometimes you don't get your rewards till you relog.

I have changed the review from Not Recommended to Recommended after hours of extra play and will leave the original one up. Now while it still suffers some issues from when I put not recommended, it comes with an asterisk.

Game suffers from "Who asked for this?" syndrome. which isn't a bad thing per say, but it really limits your audience. That being said the game isn't very good, like it plays okay and runs okay, but the weird PvEvP thing it wants to be is really really boring. It's very lacking in most regards. Like if you played the beta, which I assume most people have, you've played the full game pretty much. Yeah sure there are "new" objectives, but they're not engaging enough to matter.

Most matches will be
If you're faster, you get the dominator at the final mission LATER than the losing team and just push your victory even further.
If you're losing you get your dominator earlier and just use it to catch up and then get dunked on by the enemy dominator. Sure you can still win, but the uphill climb just never ends if you're behind.

tl;dr Game boring. GaaS is a mistake and a day 1 battle pass is hilarious, because it doesn't add actual content.

Editing to add there is no cross platform invites. So if your friend plays on PS4/5, Xbox, or PC Gamepass you will not be able to invite them to your steam version. You can play against them if you match. It's such an obvious oversight that people complained about in beta that was NEVER changed.

Edit 2: So after a ton more hours played, because I like to give games a proper shot before quitting them. The game opens up a lot more, but the biggest problem it has is the fact that it's locked behind the story. Which in theory not too bad, most games open up after story beats. This one has points awarded after winning or losing more points on win, less on loss. Understandable. Except you need more points to open up more modes, so you can experience burnout a lot faster and not experience the full game if you just constantly lose. The 10 player co-op missions are some of the most fun I've had in a while, but some people might not/will not experience it. How many more times can i put experience in this. It is around 55 matches to finish the story and unlock the most fun parts of the game and even then it's random; you cannot choose them. I would assume as the community finishes the game the more often they will come up, but will people really finish the game or will it die before people see what peak Exoprimal looks like? Only time will tell.

Early Access Review
I went into this game because EDF6 still isn't out in English and I'm not about to shell out for some Singaporean or Japanese PSN cards then purchase it again once it drops on PC. So like any sane human being i looked into the newest Starship Troopers; i mean where else can you kill an excessive amount of bugs and see tons of blood everywhere?

The game itself is very okay. At its current state it's pretty barebones with one map and a couple randomized objectives. The class differences are very small early on, but this is all things that can easily change and hopefully so. The community for this game really likes to quote to movie, which is a fun time. Where everyone is 'doing their part' or so they say.

The sound design is pretty okay, it sounds very stock though. I did have a bug where when i was changing my audio inputs it just decided to blue screen my PC, but whatever; it's kinda to be expected from modern PC games to me now. I can't speak on graphics because my rig is kinda mid, so it runs at 60 for me and that's cool. I wish i could turn off the hit markers.

Most important thing to me though is that going further into the future, i hope they don't just stick to the movie and follow the book more. The mobile infantry was a bunch of power armored exo type soldiers that could move around really fast, hence the "mobile infantry". They had really advanced weaponry, so I hope that the devs don't just lock themselves into just being based on the movie.

tl;dr the game is alright. you know exactly what you're getting when you purchase it. i hope the devs deviate from having the movie as a base. i have high hopes for the future of the game if it doesn't die in a month.

I played and beat this game before any day 1 patch was up, I don't even know (if) there was a day 1 patch. The game ran pretty alright, it hitched every once in a while on high and medium, so i nuked it down to low. The game itself is a very uninspired amalgamation of many different co-op shooters that manages to not get any of them right. It has no idea who its target audience is. That being said the exploration is bland, the shooting is blander, i see more variety at the baskin robins than i do in the enemy types. Story and characters exist as much as my self worth does.

tl;dr it's a game with a neat concept that ends up disappointing. While i don't recommend it, i wouldn't talk you out of it

(edited slightly for better clarity)
(edited again because some people don't believe that the game is completed in 12 hours, you unlock the 4th difficulty eclipse finishing the last boss. you are sent back to the very start of the game after the credits, so you are unable to explore the open world if you so wished it. https://imgur.com/a/Dii84x1 )

I've played this game on and off for a very long time. As much as I dislike the direction they're bringing the MMORPG aspect of it, as one of those weird boomer MMO players, it's not a bad game. First and foremost it's a Final Fantasy game, do not expect anything otherwise. It is very heavy in story and dialogue like most Final Fantasy games from 4 onward. One of the problems most MMO players have going into it is the fact that it's so heavily story based, not expect any "i'm gonna grind to do end game fast" junk, as most stuff is locked behind the story. Like how i said i disliked the direction they were going, i taught myself to ease off the "I want my MMO this way" mindset and just took it as just a regular RPG with multiplayer aspects to it and my time with it was more enjoyable.

tl;dr expect a final fantasy game not a hardcore mmo.

I do recommend Gundam Evolution, but there is a huge asterisk next to that.

First and foremost the monetization, it's honestly absolutely awful. Sure, if you spend $10 on the battle pass you can get your money back as it refunds 990 Evo tokens which is the cost of it, if you finish the pass or well get close to finishing it. That's not that bad, thing is even by doing that you will not have enough in game currency to purchase all the locked suits. You flat out can't get all of them as a free-to-play player. You don't get any in game currency through the battle pass if you purchase it, so you can just stick to free-to-play.

Gameplay is solid, there's nothing too obscene about gameplay outside of some character just being flat out brokenly strong. Exia is horrifically overtuned, two stuns, and a million dashes, cool. Things like that can and probably will be patched. Overall it's a faster Overwatch.

Like i said I do think it's fun, but the balance as well as just overall bugs that other people experience (i haven't crashed since day 1.), plus the obscene monetization make it somewhat hard to recommend. Since the game costs no money I still recommend it, decent enough time killer.

Very mediocre combat system, but decently fun in co-op (that can be said of most games you can play with friends). A forgettable story that is really keen on recapping Gundam for you, chances are if you play the game you're already a Gundam fan and know all of it.

I came from a very mediocre GBO2 to another mediocre Gundam game. We eat well as Gundam fans, obviously.

So my review is based on the fact that I was new to the franchise. I was given the expansion for free, but i did make sure to go through the main/base game first.

I recommend this game with a big asterisk, because it would be very very hit or miss with the audience it's going for. The game is based around a lot of grinding and buildcrafting. The gunplay itself is decent enough, but it's hard to sell a game with such a weak story and characters, the setting itself isn't very interesting either. So you sell the game on the endgame itself, which itself is also rather weak.

The expansion's end game on paper is interesting, but at the end of the day it's just more of the same. Just think the drop pod end game of the base game but paced in a somewhat choose your own path linear deal; with a few bosses scattered here and there.

The game itself rounds out to being rather mediocre, not bad or really all that good. which is a shame cause i can see potential in the series (if it is to become a series). The reason mediocrity is a shame to me is because i'll soon forget that i played this game or anything about it, while i still remember good games and bad games alike. I'll probably join Remnant From the Ashes and Anthem in the mediocre looter shooters that I forced myself to remember to make a comparison to something.

TL;DR if you enjoy decent gunplay, build crafting, and grinding for gear check it out. If that's not what you're into just skip it.

(The 3 mod slots on gear is a very powerful change and a good change though)
