Looking at the trailers I wondered why the game had such bad ratings, picked it up and tried it, it isn't as bad as what people say but I just couldn't enjoy it, also requiring an internet connection for a game you can play solo should not be allowed in the gaming industry, this game already wasn't that great and then you force me to have a constant connection to play it idk me personally I hate that sh!t and it's useless to incorporate.

Entering a game knowing it's bad is a different affair. I am more relaxed without any fear of missing out anything which might be vital to the plot. I don't have any expectation so I am not nitpicking as much as I would've in a 96 metascore game.
Now, the game is not good, make no mistake, but it's not 4/10 bad. I am playing it 1 year after launch and most of the technical problems seem to be fixed bar 2 crashes early on.

That being said, let's talk about the game part of the game. I can't tell you how bad the story is because it's so poorly told that it lost me 1 hour in. The gameplay is pretty fun and involving but it encourages you to stealth with a hand by making most enemies really strong later on, while simultaneously not giving you any means of stealth with the other. So 90% i just killed everyone and it was functional.
The worst thing is the dialogue, and in particular, the protagonist. If it was ever a time when I missed the silent protagonist was now. This guy will just not shut up and everytime he talks I want to strangle him. Don't get me wrong, all of the characters are like this but they are very few with really limited interactions so if that were all it would have been tolerable. No! My guy just needs to comment on everything and over-explain any plot developments in a "comedic" fashion until any subtlety flies out the window.
This, in turn, lead to an unbelievable clashing of tones, because, against all odds, the game is pretty atmospheric in missions. Really need to stay on my toes, gameplay-wise, and story-wise, the situation is quite horrific. If only they kept the dialogue method of dishonored, short, serious, and to the point, the game would have only been pretty bad instead of aggressively bad to the point that I feel personally assaulted.

Probably the guys who made dishonored and prey don't even work at Arkane, so I won't hold my breath for their next title, Blade, especially because, being a superhero, they will inevitable give it a go with that "wacky marvel dialogue" .

bought this game not expecting much especially after it being badly received on release, but i had a lot of fun on coop with my two mates, i don't know about the solo experience but i would recommend it for coop.
