Actually some of the most fun I had with the whole game. A lot of cool new mechanics and small but effective tweaks on existing ones.

's pretty good.

Can be harsh sometimes, and starts out looking really unfair but it's not that bad once you get the hang of it.

Narrator makes me feel insecure about my voice.

Keyword for this expansion is: "Lategame".

Don't Starve, as fun and cool as it is, always lacked proper endgame. After the first year its essentially just base building. Vanilla kept you playing for some more via caves and ruins, which if you even try to go to before late mid-game or late game, you would be rekt in about a minute.

Reign of Giants adds extra mechanics and challanges(food left on drying racks and crock pots will spoil, wetness being a thing, summer not being the safe season anymore, winter becoming harsher, etc.) designed for the people who can survive to late game(or the people like myself who decided "Yeah I can handle this", which I eventually did).

There's a lot of content such as a few new creatures, new biomes, etc. but the main things that are late game specific are:

Giants - After the first year, seasonal bosses will spawn. They will pose a threat, have a warning before they actually spawn, and will really change what you expect from the game so far(for example, a strategy that works on one boss may not work on the others). Each one's drops however, can be used in craftables that will either aid you in general or in the next season or in the next encounter with the giant. Thanks to the amounts needed, you will need to kill them a few times to get all of their rewards.

Tumbleweeds - Renewing resources that couldnt be renewed before.

Seasons - Adding more seasons made the years less repetitive. No longer summer and winter only, but the whole 4 seasons, each with its own adventage you can use and its disadventage that will attempt to torture you horribly.

Lastly, there are the characters.

Wigfrid and Webber both spice up the gameplay quite a bit, even more than some vanilla characters. Saying more would probably spoil though.

All in all:

Pros:
-Very good for late game.
-Great for people who just want more variety in general

Cons:
-Doesn't add that much content. The content that it does add though synergizes so well with the game.

TLDR: Great for people who can reach late game, cool for people who can't/just want more variety, and all in all works very well with the base game.

I bought this game when it was in its early access period(For 13 dollars multiplied by 4. Yes, my currency sucks) and I recently exprienced most of the content, meaning I can finally review it.

Nuclear Throne is a hard(and I mean HARD. at about 9 hours you'll be just getting used to the third area) roguelite top down shooter with a huge variety of weapons(above 140 I believe), a roster of 12(and a few secret) characters, 7 main areas(split into levels) with secret equivelants of most of them, and full of content.

Every session is quite short, and there is no end unless you choose to end the run.

Every enemy drops EXP upon death(rads), and when you level up you can choose 1 mutation(modifiers) out of a selection of 4 every time for 9 levels, and get a special choice on level 10. Mutations vary from trivial things such as faster move speed to kills reducing reload time.

The devs are extremley helpful and active on the forums(at least during the early acces period and until they finish updating the released product) and the community is the last one to be called a toxic community.

The game's lore was told partly through little references in-game, lore bits and pieces from twitch streams of the dev and more, and is worth a read on the wiki(Also run by a great guy). Nobody knows all of it(except for the developers), but what we do know is pretty damn good.

After defeating the first final boss, if you do a thing the community will eventually notify you about(or wiki), you will loop. Looping is going through the entire game all over again and will never end until you die/get either of the 2 endings.
It includes new exclusive content and so much more. The loops are late game, and since they can last forever, the game has to become even more brutal with each loop, and on loop 1 already, without spoiling, you will notice a difficulty spike.

Pros
-Full of areas to explore, enemies to shoot and die to, weapons, synergies and more.
-Will keep you playing for a good amount of time, but still is fit for short sessions if you're just passing time
-Amazing and helpful community
-Fantastic soundtrack(Personal favorites are Frozen City's B-Track(Ode on the official soundtrack) , and The Nuclear Throne)
-Great pixel art that is just beautiful to look at.

Cons
-It takes a while for RNGesus to make some good weapons become common in the pool after the first time they drop
-Sometimes the game would do flat out unfair actions, such a certain telefragging enemy
-Inconsistent difficulty curve. Its smooth until the third boss, spikes, stays that way, lowers down a bit in the 7th area's boss and on loops spikes up again and goes through the same curve
-Sometimes you just get screwed(even on spawn). RNGesus may not have mercy.
-Some secrets that without a wiki/datamining no one would have found.

TLDR: NT is a great game to sink hours into, as well as to play in short sessions, is hard, but rewarding and fun, as well as full of content to exprience.

Some time ago, I saw the original on youtube. I fell in love with the game.

Later, The Remastered version came out. I talked to a friend about it, and he surprised me by gifting it to me.

One of my favorite games I must say.

Pros:
Has a good length and workshop(Though personally I don't use the workshop, and its not that big anyway).
Steam Trading Cards.
Very Speedrun Friendly(As you can see in the achievements).
Made me crack a smile quite a few times, and the artstyle is pretty cool.
HATS.
Pretty unique elements in each world.
Checkpoints based on the last safe ground you stood on before you died. This is a pro as this saved me from restarting the levels over and over again in a few worlds, but also a con at other times.

Cons:
Long loading times. The game is pretty speedrun friendly, EXCEPT for the loading times, and even I who can't speedrun to save my life, is bothered by this. At least when returning from most deaths the game doesn't need to load anything.
Checkpoints based on the last safe ground you stood on can also screw you over in levels that you can fall from above onto the ground, forcing you to start over from the ground even if you die.
Fire is annoying as dying to it makes the whole level re-load and it persists between safe ground checkpoints.

Overall, I would honestly reccomend this game. Its not perfect, but its pretty good.

I recieved a free steam key on a twitch stream from the dev, and naturally, tried it out.

I had so much fun.

Pros:
Pixel art in this game is beautiful. Its great to look at.
Fast Paced, and controls are very responsive.
Even when playing in singleplayer mode, the AI is pretty good so its not you fighting against a boring and lame enemy.
A great game to play with friends(Of course).
Unique variety of worlds. Each world is designed differently, has a brief background, its own "champion" that you can use/fight against, and each world feels different too, with different mechanics(So far I really like the Water World).
Nice roster of characters to unlock and play as.

Cons:
Online Multiplayer would be an amazing thing to add.
There's no real point to getting every character, because from what I've seen so far...it doesnt really change anything.
Limited amount of content. Its one of these games that once you finished the campaign, had some fun with your friends, and unlocked all the characters...You wont come back to it a lot. More stuff/updates/expansion/whatever would be nice.

Overall, do I recommend this game? Yes. Defiently yes. Its fun, fast paced with good and responsive controls, has a good ai if you're playing singleplayer(though you HAVE to play with a friend at at least some point to get the full exprience), and great visuals.

I played only 14 minutes so far.
I got this game from a humble bundle along with its source code, and the folks who bought that bundle did it mostly for the great price on Game Maker Pro.

Once you get over the trippiness of the visuals of the game(8/8 would drug like a druggen drug again) and realize what's happening, its really great. The music is nice and really fits, the whole concept of the game is..interesting, and its a fast paced game where you need to watch everything, and really feels like an extremley trippy arcade game.

Its main flaw for me though is...your eyes take time to adjust to what's happening,so once you get over that for this play session, you're good to go and enjoy your drugged view of shooting whatvers and then they kill you.

Virgil kept shouting at me "Good you got around that" for about 60 times in a hard level.

69/10 Would GET AROUND THAT again.

Alright, if you ask yourself "Do I need to download this mod"(Which is weird because it's free and almost everyone say it's awesome), this review is gonna show you exactly why you should.

Plot
Ok, so the plot is kind of a meh, and a bit cliche as a time travel story, but the start is amazing as you have already seen in the trailer.

Length
It's not as long as Portal 2, but as it works on the same principle of Co-Op(Think for two players), so the difficulty would make it feel longer.

Difficulty
This mod is much more challanging than the actual game. Really, even Portal 1 isn't hard like some of these chambers. Lovers of challanges, you're gonna LOVE this mod.

Differences From the Base Game
Ok, almost everything is now completley retextured and looks awesome.

Overall
Overall, this is a great mod, very challanging, a bit short, and while Portals are not the main mechanic anymore, you should all play this. It's also free and you can see your legs.
