Gameplay is very good. A lot of the mini-games from Yakuza: Infinite Wealth come back and are expanded with new stages/content.

Mad Dog and Sea Dog styles start out fairly stiff, but they become very fun to use once you get the moves for them.

The pirate aspect is only as in your face as you want it to be, a significant portion of it is side content (but very rewarding side content). There's a good balance of combat and ship combat. Even the Colosseum still has plenty of combat for regular combat.

The team system from Gaiden is back, but leveling teams is a lot easier, making it less frustrating to prepare for the Harder fights in game. Both Mad Dog and Sea Dog get tools to do it however you want.

The only issues I would say is that substories are heavily frontloaded. You can finish most of them very early on. Also fights don't have a lot of cinematic set pieces, so if you become too strong you can quickly overwhelm stronger enemies without much theatrics. Also not many heat actions, but a lot of this may just be feels on the current engine than really faults with the game itself.

Not much grinding needed to clean out the game as long as you use everything. The food helps a lot.

While the game is on the shorter side of Yakuza games, there's enough side content to keep you entertained if you really enjoy it. I hit 42 hours to reach full achivemnent unlock with a full colosseum clear.

Lastly: Story is passable. Don't expect as much drama, but it's fun and doesn't take itself too seriously.

At the time of this post, the games pretty solid. It was definitely designed with multiplayer in mind however.

The minion system does not hold up by the end of the 4th stage, and the single mobs that spawn during the bosses can body-block some characters and make it much more difficult for them than it needs to be. This can turn the later stages into a huge skill jump from earlier stages as you get far less time to move. Some characters are 'much' better at dealing with this than others.

Items are bit weird. Some stats are super important if playing singleplayer. Glass cannon is a terrible idea generally. The enhance system is too unreliable to give up loads of stats from upgrade. I couldn't figure out how to drop consumables for others.

The gameplay is very solid however. Every character is unique, and there's abilities, ultimates, and consumables for all of them. I strongly think the issues I have with the game are things that can be improved in later updates. Also, most of it only applies to single player. Multiplayer is much, much more forgiving.

The quality of the port is good

It comes with an arranged track but the original track is still available

The mouse support is solid. It doesn't feel clunky to use at all.

Never had any slowdown or other issues from start to finish

In regards to the game itself: It deserved to be a timeless classic. One of the best video game stories around. The puzzles are very fun and variety is good. The only downside would be that the game is somewhat short even while keeping up with the story. It will definitely leave you wanting more.

If you liked No Mercy on the N64, it does play like it as promised. Matches are fast paced and counter-heavy in more difficult fights.

The only Issues I found were that when knocked down you can be down for a long time even when damage is light, and there's a bit of button bloat like having the switch target on L3 (so constantly switching targets when trying to do certain moves), but these can likely be rectified later.

The CAW is very barebones appearance-wise, but the movesets are wide so you can make a fun to play character. Though hopefully the options for appearance will improve in the future.

The story mode is corny but fun to play. It has routes based on win/loss and lots of fights to make up for how short many fights can be. Took 2-3 hours to finish one journey through the World Champion Route

Have not tried Online. There are concerns about the Epic Account requirement, but as far as I can see it is optional.

For those who have difficulties with fighters, the game has a Single Player mode called "Virtual Tour" which is much more approachable, similar to Smash Bros. single player modes.

It's basically a 3D sonic game playground. It has a lot of jank in it (especially when 2D becomes involved), but when it's doing what it's good at (which is actually most of the time) it's really fun and you can get lost in it.

Game is very, very easy, and hard mode does not actually offer any genuine change to the difficulty (and should honestly be the mode you play the game on for story reasons). Surprising amount of stuff to do if you just run around doing the challenges and stages.

Presentation is a 10/10, game is great at hype and makes you feel fast.

Soundtrack like any Sonic game is the best part of a sonic game.

If I could say there was anything I was genuinely disappointed in, it's that when the game decides to use 2D, the physics are very messed up.

Early Access Review
The one flaw: Only 3 stages

Everything else great: Just about every weapon is strong and fun to use, the gameplay is addicting, and despite content eventually running out...did I mention it's only like 3$?

Great time sink even when you've beaten it many times. Play around with combos and see if RNG screws you or blesses you.

The game is dark, and most of it is really not happy. But I think it actually warmed my heart in the end.

After hours of suffering, but in the end.

Even if you are playing Strive, the gameplay is different and good

Even if you don't wanna play, buy it to watch the campy enjoyable mini-series

Even though we know you're buying the legend's killer soundtrack, you get a free game with it!
