Honestly, just another great Resident Evil game. It successfully mixes the campy quirkiness of Resident Evil 4 with the perspective and horror of Resident Evil 7.

That said, I still prefer the RE7 aesthetic. It felt more realized and focused. After leaving the Castle in this game, no other area feels quite as detailed, with the possible exception of parts of the Factory. It feels very front-loaded. House Dimitrescu and the vampire family were extremely interesting, but everything that follows feels progressively more watered down.

House Beneviento was said to be the scariest part of the game, and while it was definitely creepy, it goes by way too quickly. I enjoyed the return of the upgrade system and the ability to customize a loadout similar to RE4, but it doesn't feel quite as essential or impactful as it did in that game. Ultimately, it feels like they tried to force the RE4 mold onto the RE7 engine; some parts fit perfectly, while others feel slightly out of place.

As for the story, it’s honestly pretty ridiculous. I preferred the grounded mystery of 7. They clearly wanted to connect Ethan’s journey to the rest of the series lore, which isn't bad per se, but the execution is bizarre. Ethan’s arc feels a bit aimless here, and the twists regarding Mia and Mother Miranda were so over-the-top that I actually laughed. Chris Redfield feels like he was included mostly because of his cameo in the previous game; his presence leads to some weirdly hilarious moments, like when he suddenly blows up the entire village with BSAA high-tech military force lmao.

This game needed a little more time in the oven to feel fully realized. It’s definitely not a bad game, but it left me feeling slightly underwhelmed by the end.

A note on the Shadows of Rose DLC: It’s largely a reskinned tour of main-game areas. The voice acting is hilariously campy, and while there are some cool moments, it doesn't compare to the massive amount of creative DLC RE7 received. Still, I hope Capcom continues this trend. This era has honestly revitalized the Resident Evil franchise as a whole.

This is a very ethereal retro bowling game. The graphics are really Beholden to that 90s Nintendo 64 format and I really respect that commitment. It's a little tough to control but you eventually get used to it and there's just some jankiness that you'll eventually learn to get used to. I guess in a way it's a perfect way of further committing to those styles of games that came out during that era. Janky but fun.

This is just one of those old classic games that you have to try. It's very difficult but very rewarding. The graphics are obviously on point, you really can't go wrong with hand modeled claymation. I also love the genre so I'm a little bit biased But I honestly just think that this is outright fun. Definitely worth the money if you enjoy the genre, but worth it still if you want to support an old school dev that actually cares about what they're making and you want to see more from them.

It's an extremely short game with relatively satisfying gameplay that goes to an important cause. If you have an hour and 5 bucks I think it's pretty worth it.

It's an effective horror game but make no mistake this is one of those spot the difference types of games that take advantage of you focusing on stupid things like clock handles and items in the fridge so that a jump scare can come and get you. I like the concept but I'm kind of getting sick and tired of these these types of games. But for $5 I guess I could recommend it.

Surprisingly high production value for a very very simple horror game. I'd like to see an idea like this with some more genuine thought to gameplay put in. Hard to recommend when the average time to beat is JUST over the steam refund timer.

I’m very torn on this game. On one hand, it’s an interesting idea to have an open world Sonic game where you perform platforming puzzles; on the other hand, it legitimately looks like those Unreal Engine fan demos made specifically for YouTube. Because of that, the settings feel extremely uninspired, especially after the first island. They almost all look the same and have very similar puzzles.

I feel like this concept could have worked if they had better integrated the world with the puzzles, but instead, it’s just a bunch of floating platforms that all behave the exact same way. The jankiness creates A LOT of frustration, and to top it off, it’s a collect-a-thon in the worst way possible. There are about six different items to collect in each area, with hundreds of each scattered around and sometimes theres no descript way that you earn those items. For instance you get a gear for big challenges like beating a boss, but sometimes there also just in one of the 1000 crates lying around??? There is no way you'd want to try to get everything unless you are a completionist with way too much time on your hands.

Simply put: it isn't fun. It wasn't even fun on the first island. I was determined to beat it, but it felt like a total chore, and nothing made the payoff feel worth it. The only dopamine rushes I got were from the traditional Cyberspace levels and the Big the Cat fishing minigame (which is so hilariously out of place by the way). The moments where you turn Super Sonic are kind of fun, but they are way too easy.

The story is incredibly melodramatic. I don’t usually mind that, but here it’s almost laughable. I also found the difficulty scaling weird. While the Titans are the main bosses, the mini-bosses scattered around the map are usually more difficult and annoying to beat. I think I only finished about seven of the 100+ mini-bosses because they're so frustrating. They require you to use your skills, but you often have to wait around for an opening, which makes the combat feel incredibly slow and tedious. I had to force myself to finish this game. I even tried to play the DLC where they tried to mix up the gameplay by making you play as Amy but I was having legitimately no fun and I just uninstalled it. Whats funny is, most my hours on this game were me falling asleep playing it.

"Tedious" is really the best word to describe the game as a whole.

Score: 6/10

This was excellent. I've played this developers games in the past and I always thought that they had a genuine care for what they were making and that really shows with Guns of Fury. The entire game is rife with polish. It's got just the right amount of difficulty, just the right amount of exploration, and so many secrets and fun stuff to find. Not to mention the pixel art is really really well done. Obviously this game is inspired by Metal Slug and I think they took all the right inspirations while mixing it with a Metroid style formula. It works really well. Hoping to see more from these guys.

fun little game that just needs a bit more variety in it's encounters, locations, interactions etc and the ability to do a lot more custom stuff
