This was my first experience with YAKUZA and I kind of dont get what the fuss is about.

Gameplay wise the game feels completely dated same with controls and movement. Everything except the cutscenes feels straight out of 2007. UI is completely horrid same with the menus and inventory management system. Controls are very clumsy since this small indie publisher called CAPCOM doesnt have enough money to afford voiced NPCs and good controll scheme for KB&M.

When it comes to the story. The story itself is kind of good and after slogging trough boring uninspired repetitive side missions and finally getting to the final mission of the chapter was great. Unfortunately for every 10 minutes of amazing story missions you get like 2 hours of just wandering around doing boring unvoiced side missions that lock you into 1999 chat boxes that cant be skipped whatsoever. And they drag on and on and on. Allowing you only to skip single line of dialog one by one. Leaving you there sometimes for minutes wondering wtf is that you actually bought. I think my finger will fall off from pressing E for so much ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

Game will often not tell you where you are supposed to go or what are you supposed to do and leaves you stranded forcing you to write down what items you need to buy or what street you need to visit. As an example there is a mission that requires you to buy some items from general stores but it doesnt tell you where they are located so you have to go to all 12+ stores around the map to see if the vendor has one of the items that you need to buy.

Some people claim its "oldschool" but there is a reason modern games or games like WOW and others have quest helpers to track stuff of what you need to do and where you are supposed to go. And overall its not an argument its just a dumb excuse and just plain annoying. Just because its "oldschool" doesnt actually mean its a good game desing or fun. It just completely breaks any gameflow and takes you out of the experience.

City is filled with many minigames that serve mostly no purpuse except to pad the game time and further annoy you with their janky control schemes. Same with the streets which are filled with goons that keep respawning at the same places even after you beat them numerous times. Also before and after every fight there is a loading screen which isnt long but hell it will start to annoy you becaise you can barely move across the city with so many enemies. If you would look up a definition of fillergame in a dictionary this game would pop-up.

During my play time with the game. The time was spent somehing like this 60% pressing E and Q to skip the never ending dialog, 30% fighting copy paste enemies on the streets, 10% actually enjoying playing the main missions.

Combat is dated, awkward and average at best. The finishers and enviromental attacks are nice. But the game will often make you fight a bunch of enemies at once which is not bad in itself but when you are in the middle of an attack the game will not allow you to dodge. It forces you to wait and finish your attack sequence and then will make an akward transition into neutral stand (which further leaves you vulnerable) after which you can finally dodge but after that is usually way too late leaving you to very little tactics except spamming left mouse button and holding W. Making the combat dull and just not enjoyable.

Honestly I expected a 6-10 hour cocaine fueled linear story driven japanese clusterf***. Which if the game allowed you to only play the main missions I would have been happy. But since these points are few and way too far between I cant honestly say I would reccomend the game. Further I honestly think the gameplay is just under average. Ofc if you did your homework know what expects you and still want the game pick it up during a sale. Also since I have just finished my playtrough of Witcher 3 such an underrated gem of a game which tells the story Geraldo Rivero my opinion my be sligthly skewed but. nah

4/10 too much E not enough MUDA.

Its a great game both when we are talking about singleplayer and attention to detail. But if we are talking about multiplayer that is a different story.

--------------Multiplayer
+ Extremely fun (Racing, Co-op if you dont mind repetitive missions)
+ You can meet really good friends
+ Track editors
+ Customization
+ There is a great game under all the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

- I never got banned so atleast that is a plus +.
- Weapon balancing is bad no recoil 1 hit kill anywhere sniper rifles, miniguns, sticky bombs and homing missiles rule. All other weapons are not viable and suck compare to them. Playing freeroam is really cancer sometimes.
- Helis suck anyone can carry a stinger with 20 rockets and ultra fast locking + you dont have flares so you are almost always dead. There are ways to dodge rockets but yeah good luck, when you dodge 1st he has 2nd already in the air.
- Unstable sessions P2P connection FTW boyzzzz
- ALOT less hackers now. There were times where you got out of garage only to get killed by a windmill, or changed to a toilet or christmass tree.
- Multiplayer could be something great aswell but unfortunately it is burred under a rug of long loading times. Stupid sessions system (where when you accept an invite to lobby it dissconnects you out of your own lobby and then attempts to join the lobby you were invited to. But it doesnt check if there are any free slots left before it disconnects you. So most of the time you will get session full message and then it will force you into another loading before it will find an another freeroam session)
- Infinite loading glitch still present (Still 2 years after launch)
- Hit detection is terrible (You cant even find your own ping)
- Multiplayer is a big grind. You can either play PVE, or PVP for lousy 20k a game if you are lucky most of the time it ranges from 5-18k depends on player count, match duration (Btw pvp is dead all their "Super fun modes are mostly dead mainly because of the lobby system which doesnt work fast enough to get enough players into 1 lobby"). Or you can play 4 different heists from which only 1 is viable (Pacific 375k per hour if 20% payout and all setups) and pay is good enough so after 4-5 hours of the same missons. You finally will be able to buy that mad 2m super car that you wanted. Only to find out it costs another 350k to fully upgrade.
- When playing heists you need to get a good crew you never want to play with randoms or they will destroy your sanity mainly because of the terrible checkpoints. (Leavers, griefers, idiots, noobs, kids this game has it all).
- Many of the items are insanely overpriced. If you complete all the heists challenges like I did. Some of them really long like play all heists no deaths, in order, hard difficulty. You will get something around 14m cash to spend that is really not alot when you want to buy some of the more nice, fun things like fighter Jet 3Mil, Tank 1.5Mil , Some High end apartments lets say another 1.5Mil, clothes 50-200k for single piece of clothing no problem Capitalism has you here aswell. Some super cars like (Its a car game ofc you will spend money there) thats like 6 mill here EASY with upgrades etc,...
- AND puff your money is gone Annnd you can start grinding pacific again...
- The DLC missions (Lamar and CEO stuff, Bikers) again you need to invest ALOT and it will take yet another 10-20+ hours to even get some sort of a reasonable profit.

I could rant here for ever but I think I will stop here.

After all I will still give positive rating, bacause like I said there is a great game hidden there but
My love & Hate relationship is real.

Early Access Review
I always wanted to buy a KF game. So I bought this one. Played it with friends was alot of fun but the game didnt have alot of content. But gunplay, maps and overall feel of the game was great. But like I said only 1 boss and only few maps. I was hoping this wouldnt turn out as one of those games like Payday 2 with 100€ worth of Dlc.Because when I bought vanilla PD2 there was just so much ♥♥♥♥ locked. I swear 50% of the game is Dlc. Base game is glorified demo for 20€ and when they put in microtransactions it was just too much.

Anyway back to what I wanted to say. I was looking foward to a new content and was very interested to see how the game will develop further. It has been like 2+ months without a single patch. And the 1st thing after 2+ months they announce microtransactions and Dlc. Im sorry but wtf is this ♥♥♥♥. I dont think I want to keep playing because I just know this game will become infested with dlc.

TLDR: Game is great f microtransactions

Well to be honest the game isnt bad in fact it is good and some people what like s**t loads of puzzles might even love it. When I bought this game I expected mix between Diablo/God of War which it kinda is but only from like 30%. The other 70% of the game are puzzles. And I have to be honest I suck at them and what irritates me the most is that there are invisible walls so when you think your own way of doing the puzzle(or getting to chest) you actually cant do it unless it was designed that way. It happened to me like 10 times when there was just a stupid rock which Death could climb on or something like that but there were no wooden grips so death was like nope.

The game boils down to enter a dungeon kill 2-10 guys thrown at you at once. After that proceed to the puzzle after solving a puzzle kill another 5 enemies and go and do another puzzle after that puzzle do another puzzle and then do another puzzle kill 1 miniboss and another 5 guys and then do another puzzle which usually summons the boss. Bosses are very cool in this game BTW.

There isnt just enough fighting to make the game interesting enough for me. The story is pretty average nothing special but the game IS NOT repetitive. The puzzles vary alot and the fighting when you finally get to it is incredibly fun Death can combine his light and heavy attacks to make really nice looking combos + you have two skill trees one where death can learn various dashes and AoE moves and the second one focuses on spawning minions etc ...

So to sum this up. The graphics are nothing special today. Textures are kinda low res but it is still a nice game to look at. Story is average and the combat is fun. But the puzzles will definetely decide whether you like the game or you dislike it because like I said earlier the puzzles make up for 70% of the game in my opinion. If you like puzzles alot you will like this game if not this game isnt for you. I got this game during steam sale when there was a 90% disc for Darksiders series.
PS: Dont waste money on DLCs they are useless.

Sorry for any typos
