This is a very short demo. You can try different options in less than an hour and it's definitely worth it. The conversation mechanic in which you're trying to assess which sentence you can try saying without it going wrong is interesting. Art, music and crazy lighting effects are definitely above the average demo for a story game. You could have already played a large part of it instead of reading these reviews, just press play and enjoy.

I've grown sick of AAAAA++ open world fun parks with tiny repetative quests at every meter, but this is something you don't get in other games. The open world is amazing and huge, but also surprisingly pastoral and picturesque for a world of death and sadness. There is little of that copy-paste feeling, everything is set up in such a way that even the less significant campsites feel somewhat unique and memorable.

The gameplay features a lot less bull❤️❤️❤️❤️ than Dark Souls but still has that Montessori charm where you poke around different directions and have no idea if the next monster is too strong for you or not. Also, horseback combat is the best I've tried in video games.

That said, it can still be a frustrating experience with tons of "gotcha" situations that hinder your current progress and no amount of online messages can help that. But if you're thinking about buying a soulslike, you probably know what to expect and already have a spare gamepad for situations where you throw the current one out the window.

Early Access Review
Too many people treat Early Access as a finished product. This one might as well be. After the area we played in the Demo, there was a featureless hallway and I was thinking "wait, is this it?" but then it started opening up and Jesus it has so many branching hallways, secrets, arenas, situations, abilities, upgrades, powers, enemies, well polished rooms that feel like they have a real life purpose etc etc, I don't even know where to start. I'll start by saying that once I healed by sitting in a sauna for a few minutes.

Combat is harsh and it's how we imagine Multiplayer to be, not how it really is. Enemies are communicating, spreading out, flanking, quickly reacting, mourning their dead, sneak attacking you, asking for reinforcements etc etc. Yes it feels like they see better than you, and it can be annoying, but they're not the ones who can save and reload so why not.

Game area is a huge complex. It has a map system (because of course) but it's all logical enough that it's almost unnecessary. Getting lost is easy but this isn't Dark Souls, so getting lost is fun and it leads to many cool secrets. Story is interesting and a lot of it is shown in the voice work and environmental storytelling. My only real complaint (about the game in general) is that most of the story is hidden away in data cards, messages and such. It's a lot of words for a crazy action FPS. Such way of conveying the story would probably fit better in an RPG where people feel comfortable taking their time and reading a lot of words. But it's not critical, most of the story is easy enough to understand by just skimming through text and listening to things around you.

Another thing that people might find weird, but I love: the game, like many gzd engine games, incentivizes backtracking for healing, restocking ammo and such. But this seems to go a step further. I still haven't finished the game (and it might take me a while) but right now I find it very interesting (and scary) that the game is a kind of an arms race. As you solve quests, enemies get more gadgets. Every now and then it says something like "NOW ENEMIES CAN DEPLOY MAGICAL SHIELDS THAT ONLY THEY SHOOT THROUGH, GOOD LUCK LOL. You are VERY incentivized to backtrack and look for your own upgrades and uncover secrets... also probably read through text to find hints and passwords. I should really make myself read more of it :D

The campaign is bit of grindy trash, but let's be honest, if you're looking at this game, that's exactly what you're looking for. Vehicle building is fun, driving/flying them is fun, clumsy part collecting is... well, it feels a bit clumsy, like Human Fall Flat, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. I haven't seen space travel yet but if it feels like everything else, it's gonna be dumb, clumsy and awesome.

People play games like Flight Simulator or SCUM for realism. They obviously haven't had half their family die because they can't sew to save their life. It happened to me and, thanks to this game, I got to relive that experience. 10/10 would fail at sewing again.

While I love narrative games, this is usually not my style. It has lots of text and I mean a lot and you have to follow many details closely. Surprisingly, it turned out to be a pretty smooth experience. Story is easy to follow, characters are interesting and the whole "if Watership Down was a story of scientific research written by George Orwell" vibe speaks to me, especially because all the characters look manually animated which is always a plus to me.

The main mechanic of getting the conclusion from bulleted lists of information you collect is maybe a bit overwhelming, but it's pretty interesting and original.

Yes I got it for free. You can too. Because it's free! It's one of those where different characters jump around and punch each other with silly weaponry. Just press the A button on your controller until the fighting starts, nothing else is important.

A small stealth game with noir look and feel. It's a student project, not Dishonored, so don't expect huge maps full of different ways to do a mission. It's a small, straightforward, simple game. Graphics are lovely, sound is good, music is AMAZING and the voice acting also exists. It's free and can easily be finished in half an hour.

Lovely game. Lasts less than 90 minutes, but tons of fun and interesting concept. Two players can play offline as long as they hear each other and each plays their own version (choose at the beginning).
