Unbearably awful controls. Think Hand Simulator and Payday 2. It's pretty awful tbh.

Abiotic Factor is an extremely fun experience that captivates the audience of Immersive Sims and games like Prey, System Shock, and Half-Life. Essentially, the story of this game involves a psuedo-Black Mesa research facility that players must survive in and figure out how to escape.

The gameplay is a mix between Half-Life, Prey, System Shock, SCP Foundation, Minecraft, and Valheim. Taking the best features of each of these games to create an entirely new experience that left me wondering "Why hadn't this been done before?" because it clearly works extremely well.

My first few hours in this game I was mostly just scratching my head trying to get the hang of the mechanics. It seems jarring at first, and you might be wondering what exactly the draw is. But, I encourage you to give it a chance. Play it for a few hours, eventually it'll click and you'll realize there's so much more to this game than what you can see at first.

This game is absolutely awesome with a friend or two, and I highly recommend it.

Purchased this game when I was still running a 1080ti and i7-9800k. It ran okayish, I was getting about 30-40 FPS but now I'm running on my new Ryzen 7 7800x3D and my RX 9070XT and it runs like a dream. Max settings, ray tracing at 1440p, easily get a solid 120fps.

Only problem is it would crash after about an hour of play on both machines, but running the game in administrator seems to have fixed that problem. Also, I had to start my game over once I started running it in administrator, as my saves were gone. But, by running Steam also as Administrator my saves were back and I could continue where I left off.

This is really what horror games should be, psychologically terrifying, without relying on cheap jumpscares to pull the weight of what a terrifying enviroment and aura should be doing. I think the emphasis on guilt and regret in the story makes for a much better experience.

I got the deluxe edition for 35$ but I probably would have bought it brand new for 70$ had I known I would love this game so much. Can't wait to play Silent Hill F.

Like all friendslop, it's fun for like 5-6 hours and then you never wanna touch it again. I mean, I knew it'd be like that going in but I guess I just hoped I'd be able to put 10-20 more hours into it than I did.

I would just rather play more goal oriented multiplayer games, like Path of Exile or ARC Raiders.

The Embark Effect is what I'm gonna have to start calling games that start out fun, but end up a bitter and sour experience because of horrible matchmaking.

Embark's previous game The Finals was amazing for about 150 hours, and then it was horrible. At first it feels really fair and fun, you're able to win and lose with dignity. And then something just happens. You never see a fair or balanced match ever again after about the 150hr mark. Arc Raiders is in a similar boat. It was awesome at first and it felt really fair but now every single trip topside is a constant gank fest that makes me regret ever buying the game.

It feels - wrong. You know these maps, in the case of both these games, you've used these two guns for dozens and dozens of hours. But your game knowledge and experience has made for a worse experience, not a better one. In my case, I ended up upgrading my computer a week or so after this came out and it's just another added dose of irony - because I was having a better time on my old 1080TI than my fresh new computer at high framerates.

It's pretty demoralizing as I loved The Finals and Arc Raiders, at first, but I hate playing them both so much at this point, and I feel bad because my friends bought it so they could play with me but it's soured on all of us the same pretty much.

I feel really baited and betrayed if I'm being honest.

A fun game, but be prepared for jank. The whole game is janky. Enemies will follow you into water and drown. There's odd spaces you can hide where enemies can't reach you. You also can be instantly downed after you're revived by your team mate if the enemy lines up an attack as you're coming up )(it happens literally all the time.) There's just a lot of inherit jank but it goes both ways, so if you play using the jank you can easily win encounters and make progress.

I don't personally find the base building to be that fun, my friend and I have managed to live nomadically and just go around exploring caves and gathering items. This is actually an extremely reasonable way to play if you eat corpses, store clean water or drink energy drinks, and eat MREs and other storable foods. You can easily complete the game in less than 20 hours this way.

The story is silly and the theme is a little lame. I don't care at all about Mr Pufton or whatever his name is and it's really annoying watching your character stare at pamplets and books for seemingly half an hour when you pick them up.

That being said, I wouldn't be playing this if my friend wasn't playing with me, and I wouldn't be playing this if it weren't on sale. It's fun, but if i'm gonna pay 30$ for a game there's a lot better co-op experiences you can spend your money on.

Overall, if you have friends, can embrace the jank, and get this on sale, I recommend it. It's fun, but it's not great or exceptional, it's just good.

I probably would not pay MSRP for this, but on sale and with friends, it can be a pretty good time. I like it, but I don't love it.

It was enjoyable at first, but now it proves to be more frustrating than fun. The guns feel unbalanced, most weapons feel like they're not up to snuff. This game is extremely CPU heavy and it's not too nice on my older system. Without overclocking my system it gets an average of 60 fps but consistently dips into the 40s and it's extremely frustrating. Messing with the graphics settings seems to do absolutely nothing performance wise since it is so CPU heavy.

Lately my team has been losing every single match I'm put in. Makes "win the match" quests impossible to complete.

I don't look forward to playing this game anymore. I want to finish the battlepass before I uninstall but I don't know how much more of this game I can stomach.

The dogs are cute, the costumes are fun, but the core gameplay loop is tedious in the later levels. Once they introduce colors and gates and water the advanced 'quests' in the later levels are seemingly impossible, and it just becomes a total slog to play.

Don't take my word for it, try the demo out yourself and see if you have fun with it. More power to you if you do.
