New Redux renders a lot of the old problems with the 2AP system moot. Now it feels more like a funky x-com type of game, rather than a derpy hopskotch game.

Art style is lovely and the overall presentation is neat (as neat as jagged, rusty wasteland can be)
Combat is squad based, tactical and fairly fast paced. It really seems that you -need- the equalizers from your rig in order to make up for the lack of numbers, and this is represented by the number of power cells in the map.
Overall, I am having fun with it. Campaign mode is pretty intuitive and fun.

For me, I'd give it an 8/10.

EDIT: I suggest to all the reviewers to try the game again under the Redux rules. Many of the old reviews do not represent the state of the game as of now

This is so far one of the better representations of Warhammer40k combat that I've seen.

An overall lovely game, good for 6-12 hours of some travelling survival gameplay and a charming, pleasant aesthetic.

Great game, needs a more robust comback mechanic. Otherwise, A fantastic foray into a beautiful setting with fun classes and interesting mechanics.

It feels... wrong.

If you want a good fallout experience, play Fallout: New Vegas.

This? This is a huge step backwards.

Aside from little things, the biggest thing that made me not want to play this game? Quests. The quests are boring. Each one is a variation on the old fetch quests, go-kill-x quests, or escort mission. While this is mostly okay, it's the use of these tropes and the lack of impact that they have that bothers me.

I wandered into a random neat looking building, found myself surrounded by raiders, killed them all and had a stranger sign over an indentured servant to me. What. Or, the majority of sidequests being "Kill X and Y". The most interesting thing I have done quest-wise so far, is igniting an engine and burning the bejesus out of some synths.

In contrast: In NV, I wandered into a village that was being attacked by ghouls. Okay, I find the source of the ghouls, and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, there's a rocket complex up here. Woah, you mean these guys are trying to get to the moon?! Woah, Sure I'll help, I just need to get an important part where invisible super mutants are hanging out, (Whom actually have interesting story to them as well) and then I CAN INFLUENCE WHETHER THE ROCKET MAKES IT OR JUST DETONATES ON THE PAD?! ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ THATS AWESOME.

Fallout 4: Hey, kill these dudes a whole 20 miles away because we're scared they'll come for our ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ fortress town whos defense is easily 80. I wish I could just let them come, rally my people and equip them for a fight, and just watch as the ♥♥♥♥-heel raiders break upon my defenses. Hell, even have some folks elsewhere talk about a friendly settlement somewhere in the north where it's safe and they blew away a horde of super mutants.
HOW ABOUT SOMEONE CARE ABOUT THE ARTILLERY ♥♥♥♥ STRIKES I BRING DOWN. Jesus.

Nothing you do matters, you just get to be a pissy hetero parent who I'm convinced is secretly a psychopath and just waited for the day when she could unleash hell on everything and everyone, while still acting like a lovely doting mother in order to lull her targets into a sense of security. Really, it's the only thing that makes playing this character worthwhile. I can't even be a bad person. Just a snarky or pissy one. I mean, ♥♥♥♥. In fallout 3, you could straight up NUKE A CITY. and there were serious, long-term consequences for doing it. I give up.

This game is like a beautiful koi pond: Full of wonderful, graceful behemoths swimming beneath the surface, distracting from the shallow, muddy bottom.

Pros:
-Fun Combat, lots of naval pew pew. The effects of having capital ship grade weapons blasting all over the place, dodging lasers, photon torpedos, and whatever; Pretty awesome.
-Beautiful visuals: OooooOOOoooooh
-Great Atmosphere: Everything felt great, I felt like a space cowboy the whole time for better or worse.
-Plenty of quests with multiple factions.

Cons:
-The quests are inconsequential:
They exist only to get mechanical advantages in bigger, badder ships. Which would be neat if the different factions gave additional things to do but as they stand, it is a grinding quest for rep for a big ship which is comparable to the civilian models.
-Shallow, uninspired story.
-Illusion of character influence.
-Only one reliable way of getting large amounts of cash with any speed.
The Trading and Pirating actions are garbage. Even if you destroy every single ship you see, you'll only get something worthwhile once in every ten ships. Stations rarely have enough goods for a trader ship to make worthwhile runs for any reason.
For the same amount of time, you can just get "Destroy X" or "Protect Y" quests to get four times the amount of money you'll make for even the most advantageous trade. From ANY station.

The game is pretty and boring. Unless you played EV nova just to grind for hours to get the big ship and swing your massive dreadnought wang around, you're gonna have a bad time.

I give it a 6/10, mostly for visuals and atmosphere. Being forced into a very specific playstyle due to the economics of the game is annoying and takes the tiller fully out of quality's gentle, warm hands, and into the dead fish limp fist of neutrality and disappointment.

Buy this game. Play it. Love it.
