The very first time I played Civ 7, I was very disappointed in the drastic changes they made.
I waited 9 years for this game, thinking it would be not so different from 6, just like 6 wasn't so different from 5.
After a while, I asked myself, "Well, if you want something like Civ 6, why not play Civ 6?"
So I decided to play the game with an open mind, as if it was a different franchise.
TBH, the game is very good, and I would've loved it if it was something else, so I like the change.
What I don't like though, and the reason behind the dislike, is how they streamlined and simplified the game.
This game is SUPPOSED TO BE complicated and full of details.
I believe they did that because it's the first time they're launching on PC day and date with consoles, but that doesn't forgive this.
You had 9 years to come up with something good for everyone.
I'm not gonna go into much details about the terrible UI as everyone's already talked about enough.
So, I love the game, but I hate the state it is in right now.
Until that is fixed, I don't recommend it.
