There's a lot to say about this game when it comes to being a cozy, zen experience. The exploration is excellent, the slimes are cute, the soundtrack is excellent, truly just a phenomenal experience for folks who like laid back exploration and farming games. Clearly it doesn't have a AAA budget, but every decision Monomi Park made in putting this game together was the right decision, and they used all the resources they had very efficiently. The graphics are simple, but beautiful with excellent art direction, for example.

Truly what sets this game apart from a lot of others in the genre, however, is how well it actually tells a story. You never meet another person, but getting messages from people you used to know, interfacing with other ranchers who are out here in the depths of space for their own reasons, finding logs left behind by the explorer who came before you--it asks a lot of interesting questions about why you're here, playing this game right now. And it explores those themes in ways that were truly surprising and welcome for me. It's very easy to ignore or miss the narrative threads scattered around the game, but if it interests you I highly encourage thoroughly reading everything you come across.

Genuinely one of the best JRPGs in years. Even if you didn't play the first TWEWY, this is worth picking up if you like stylish, polished action RPGs. The combat works great, the writing is super solid, it's an incredibly unique series and they really knocked it out of the park here.
