A dream come true and a work of towering magnificence. It is my fantasy as a child come true.

As a child playing Final Fantasy VII back in 1997 I genuinely dreamt of the future and the technical improvements and what they would mean for open world games like that one, I theorised that for example in the open world all the characters would be separate and you'd journey together rather than just morphing into Cloud, well that small example is a reality in this game. But it is just a tiny tiny example of the excellence this game achieves.

It is a true passion project built on love and intelligently pawed over for every aspect. Not a single thread of this gigantic game hasn't been streamlined and mulled over to create the ultimate remake.

It is true to the original's spirit, and expands on it in every aspect. It is exactly what one would expect a remake to be if a child who played the original's games fantasies and dreams came true. But much more than that it also has the balls to re-imagine the story and actually improve on it, bring it into the 21st century and flesh it out in to something superior.

10/10 it doesn't feel real.

It's not quite finished yet but it's a solid entry into the series that will only get better in time, if you are a fan and have the money to spare pick it up now, otherwise wait.

Graphics 8/10 - nothing amazing but an incremental improvement
Gameplay 9/10 - great feel to combat
Sound 5/10 - a big let down relative to the previous games
Bugs/quality - 4/10 it's clearly not in its finished state right now.
Strategy/ variety - 9/10 you can have so much fun that's so rewarding figuring things out
Social features - 5/10 they're there, they're just clunky and need honing.
UI - 6/10 needs to be resalable
ART - 6/10 solid in a lot of aspects but could do with improvement.

Overall a 7/10 at the moment with scope to become a 9/10 in time.
