Final Fantasy VII Rebirth has a much larger scale than Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade.
Starting from the large map/world that can be freely explore, which is divided into 7 regions with different and unique scenery in each region, memorable and emotional main story & music each scene, good side story that makes the world in the game more alive and deepens the character, combat more fluid and better, have a lot minigames and some of them have a good story, better control with keyboard & mouse without mod.

After I finished this game, there were some cons / issues.
- Fuzzy/Blurry image quality (especially in photo mode)
I use 1440p resolution settings, Max graphics settings, dynamic resolution min & max set to 100%, force DLAA on, use DLSS 4 override, force anisotropic x16 in nvidia control panel, using engine.ini tweak mod, but it still doesn't help, the image quality still looks blurry.
Enable TAA/TAAU? This makes the image quality
even worse.
- Repetitive, Boring Exploration
Rebirth has a very large map, but it feels empty.
Basically, exploration of this game is similar to classic Ubisoft games, climb the tower > activate a mechanism in the tower > an activity icon appears on the map > visit the icon & do activities (fight monster, scaning some object, QTE puzzle, etc) > listen Chadley babble “Clouds! blah blah blah” > and repeats until near the end of the chapter.
At the beginning of the game, it's very fun to explore the world, doing various activities, but the longer you play, You will feel repetitive, which makes you bored and tired.
- Chadley is Annoying
Chadley's voice is very annoying when you have played this game for dozens of hours or more.

Overall, it's a great game.
Can't wait for Final Fantasy VII Part 3.

As a standalone game, it’s hard to recommend, especially for those who are unfamiliar with the original Final Fantasy VII. The game is packed with mini-games that disrupt the flow awkwardly, tedious puzzles with inconvenient controls, and exaggerated JRPG-style expressions. Awkward or childish cutscenes further break the pacing—something that was absent from the original Final Fantasy VII, likely due to the hardware or storage limitations of that era. Or maybe not—who knows?
Throughout my playthrough, I often found it difficult to adjust and cringed at these aspects. I only managed to finish it thanks to my love for the original game and its excellent soundtrack, which helped keep me engaged whenever my interest waned. Simply put, without nostalgia, it’s hard to enjoy. Conversely, with nostalgia, it can be a fun experience.

There are moments when I wish Steam allowed for more nuanced scoring, as Final Fantasy Rebirth is a game I wholeheartedly recommend—but with significant caveats.

The gameplay remains a standout of the remake trilogy. Materia abilities, synchrony mechanics, and summons are endlessly fun to experiment with, allowing for unique and creative combos. On top of that, the visuals are breathtaking—battles light up the screen with dazzling animations that never fail to impress. However, this brilliance is often overshadowed by the game’s biggest flaw: pacing.

Too often, the game’s momentum comes to a screeching halt for extended, mandatory minigame segments with clunky mechanics. These diversions can last up to an hour and completely derail the immersive flow of the story and gameplay. Starting the game on my PS5 Pro, I played about ten hours before deciding to wait for the PC release. Returning to it reminded me how tedious the opening hours can be. It’s hard to ignore moments where the grand, sweeping score builds an atmosphere of high-stakes action, only for the game to force you into something mundane like vacuuming or crawling at a snail’s pace. These segments feel unnecessarily drawn out and will frustrate anyone with limited gaming time.

As a long-time fan of Final Fantasy VII, going back to its original PS1 release, and a big supporter of the first entry in the remake trilogy, I had high expectations for Rebirth. While the story continues to deliver, and the core gameplay is phenomenal, the poorly paced, momentum-killing sections hold this game back from achieving its full potential.

For fans of the series, this is still a worthwhile experience, especially if you can overlook some of its glaring flaws. But for those with limited patience or time, be prepared for some rough patches on this otherwise brilliant journey. A little more focus and polish could have made this one of the all-time greats.

I can't enjoy and understand the ending, I'm too frustrated.

After Chapter 14, I caught myself thinking that if the third game is cancelled, I won't be upset. The plot twist where it turned out that the game was complete garbage in the end was really unexpected. Bravo, Square Enix. But I guess I deserve it. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes....

So how about those FF9 Remake rumors?

How does everybody feel about these rumors about FF9 getting a remake? I loved that game, but I always assumed this Remake series to just be a one-off thing for the classic darling. Not that I haven't been enjoying this game, just I assumed it was getting special treatment. Does anybody think there's any weight to these rumors? I'm curious to read the room....
