Having never played the original, I can say with zero nostalgia that this a great game. The level design is brilliant and diverse. The weapons feel powerful and satisfying, and each has their own niche for different situation, This is some old school 90's level of difficulty as going in recklessly will usually end up with you dead and wishing you'd chucked some dynamite around a few corners.

It's game like these that prove that solid, enjoyable gameplay stands the test of time, able to be enjoyed by fans of the original, as well as newcomers like myself.

It's really not as bad as reviews make it out to be. 128 players across massive maps with a wide variety of vehicles and weapons and specialists to really suite any kind of playstyle. It's pure chaos, and feels like battlefield to me.

But seriously, fix this performance, no reason why this game makes my 3070 cry even more than cyberpunk did.

For anyone like me who usually doesn't enjoy racing games, this is much closer to a platformer as their is a strong emphasis on 3D movement. The music is superb, the levels are gorgeous and disorienting, and the gameplay is addictive.

All in all was pleasantly suprised at how fun this game was and would definitely recommend to anyone,

It's ok, nothing special, can't recommend because it feels like the game lacks substance and variety. Missions are pretty repetitive, and perks are the same regardless of which class you play as. Enemies are also pretty similar to one another, and each class has very limited loadout selections. After seeing other steam reviews which indicated universal acclaim I was disappointed after I'd put some time into to and saw that it was just the same 5 or 6 basic missions types repeated on different planets at different difficulties.

This game is phenomenal. The atmosphere, the sound and music, the story. It's like a hybrid Bioshock-Dead Space offspring, with a hint of Dishonored. It is unnerving and challenging, and outright terrifying at times, you feel like no place is safe and when resources run low it feels almost like a survival horror just trying to navigate to the next objective or scrounge up anything you can for a chance at survival.

Campaign is terrible, Survival is great

For some reason you can't respec your skill tree in the campaign, which means if you don't pick the right skills you pretty much have to start a new campaign or you won't be able to progress. Also for some reason you can't replay hero missions to try and increase research or empire points if your struggling to continue in the main missions. You also can't save mid mission in campaign to retry if you fail at a horde wave. These are terrible design decisions that blemish an otherwise fun game.

Buy this game for the survival mode which is actually fun and challenging without feeling completely unfair .

I never played the first two, but I can say with absolute certainty: This game is a masterpiece. And the worst part is there will never be anything like it. I got more value out of spending $20 on the GOTY edition than i have on almost every other game in my library.

Axe is OP. Drow is OP. Cheating death is unbelieveably dumb.
