It's a FPS game until you're the last friendly standing, then it transmogrifies into a horror game.

I'm only recommending this game because of its single player. I still think Vice City has the best story, but if you give this story a chance, you'll play one of the best campaigns in GTA since SA.

The map, in my personal opinion, is not great, but it's not bad. Compared to the map in San Andreas, I think the map of southern San Andreas is fun and all, but, for the kind of person that I am, there's not a whole lot to see in between landmarks. I'm the kind of person who likes their maps to be more compact because everything is convinent and all the eye catching stuff is more focused. There's not a whole lot to see as you're driving from Los Santos to Paleto Bay. That's not to say the map is not interesting, there's a lot of interesting areas. There's a military base you can tresspass with ease, an arena, the famous Los Angeles Santos dinosaur, a hidden mine, the Vinewood sign and that's only to name a few.

The characters are great, especially Lamar. Franklin is alright, but his personality is kinda dry compared to the rest of the characters. But, Lamar is where it's at, trust me on this. If he shows up, prepare for a good time.

Missions are alright. Not masterpieces, though. I think Heists are the only fun missions. I don't know what else to say about it.

Multiplayer is heavily determined by the amount of friends you can play this game with. I would not recommend this aspect of the game if you can't play this with friends. If you have only one friend, you're probably gonna play it for a good while. If you have 2-4, you're gonna have a blast. If you have more than 4, then this will probably be one of your best nights. No friends? You'll probably die of boredom.

Multiplayer has kinda gone down the drain since 2013 on Xbox 360. Everything used to be affordable, cheap and not overpowered. As it went on, they started adding more stuff, which was easy to buy and wasn't super powerful. Then, Christmas of 2014, they added a Homing Launcher, which is not only more powerful than the RPG, it was super expensive and any rank can buy it. So, you had all these lower ranked players shooting anyone with it and it wasn't any fun.

Then they decided to add even more expensive and extremely over powered crap like VTOLs, LAVs with floaties, a KITT, a eletronic car that has a rocket engine, for some godforsaken reason, and an outfit that cost more than 100 thousand dollars. And as you guessed it, everyone and their mothers buys them and get into massive free roam rampages. Now, I'm fine with it, especially since Passive Mode is a thing, but it starts to get annoying when you are trying to fly a helicopter only to be constantly shot down by some reject in a VTOL or trying to escape the cops, only to die to a player shooting you with the mounted MG in their armored limo.

They also added a bunch of different kind of organizations, from a VIP to a CEO to MC President to owner of a private militia and so on. They all do the same thing, but nothing makes them special, other than different abilities that are pretty useless (like MC can create a motorcycle circle to increase RP and top speed in your motorcycle).

And, as you guessed it, they have microtransactions, which I only bought once, just to buy a second high-end home. And the most expensive card gives you 8 million dollars and it costs 100 USD. And that 8 million dollars will still not be enough to buy everything you want, so you're either gonna cough up 100+ USD or you're stuck grinding for money, which is very tedious because the missions in GTA Online are very boring.

If you do have friends, I suggest playing in a invite only/empty session. Playing with stragers will just be a non stop exchange between some weirdo and your friend who wants revenge. Trust me on this.

TL;DR: Play the game for the single player. Multiplayer is fun, but bring some friends. Also, have money or patience.

Holy crap, this is my first serious review.

Now, this game is actually a really good game, but it suffers through a very bad PC port. It's broken, glitchy and no online. Now, if you want a fix to this game, I'd recommend downloading Gentlemen of the Row[idolninja.com], a mod that not only fixes a lot of the issues this game has, but also adds a bunch of new features such as more weapons and outfits. If you have a speedup glitch, see if you can fix it here.

Play it with these fixes and the game becomes playable and very fun.

Can't do much about the controls, sadly. But, try your best to get used to it because it takes a good while.

Online doesn't work unless it's LAN, so you're gonna have to set up Hamachi[alternativeto.net] to play either PvP or Co Op.

EDIT: Saints Row 2 is finally getting patched, after 11 years of waiting for a fix! It's coming with a lot of game, video, audio and online fixes and patches. It's gonna bring the game to PC standards and will run just as good, if not better, than the console counterpart of the game.
