Recent patches have made this game much more stable. It is still not perfect, but that's why it's early access. A lot of potential here.

Kudos to dev team that is listening to community feedback.

This is much more fun than I've expected. I've participated in a fight which lasted for about 10hrs and it will remain in my memory forever:
Spawned on some border region which was actively contested.
Mostly trench warfare: we sit in a trench, enemies sit in a trench.
Collecting ammunition/weapons/first aid from fallen soldiers to preserve supplies.
Enemy tanks came.
Forced us to back down from our positions.
Reported tank sighting and prayed that they will bring some AT to us.
Crew of 3 tanks came to our aid. Got an MG position in one of them.
Tanks formed a line and we charged enemy positions with ~50 people + tanks.
Managed to get upper hand and drive them up to their fort.
Somebody constructed an encampment in the middle of the field.
Supplies needed.
Found a truck, loaded it with scrap, went to factory.
Brought back supplies.
While I was away someone brought heavy artillery gun and started shelling their position. Victory was close, or so it seemed.
They brought 5+ tanks from their side. AT ammo low.
They brought more artillery.
We lost our camp.
Got locked in our base.
Enemy artillery shelling.
Base got on fire.
Everyone runs around with buckets.
Managed to put out fire.
Shelling continues.
Everyone knows it's over.
Evacuating the most precious things.
Our artillery is being packed on a trucks under fire.
Managed to save it. Fort collapses.
PTSD unlocked.

Once you get used to the graphics and familiarize yourself with basics of "not-dying-every-second" this is HUGE amount of fun.

Because of 250 players on the map, battles offer quite a lot of variety of how you can play. Not all maps are great, but sometimes you can actually feel a "front-line" which stretches across the map. So you can either fight where the most concentration of players are or try to go behind enemy lines and capture/defend flags in the back.

Great deal of fun is brought by the community and voice chat. When big companies (yes, EA) is trying to make a "safe space" for everyone, this game is meant to be played and have fun with others. In Battlefield there's barely any squad work, but here I find random people who are willing to work in a squad almost in every game. Sometimes more, sometimes less. People are talking, playing music. "Fortunate son" at the beginning of the round in a heli is a must!

The cherry on top is a proximity voice chat which is automatically activated for a short moment when you die. The amount of moaning I hear when somebody gets shot is way over top and it's great. I've started to moan automatically at some point, even without microphone connected. Sometimes you can hear the rage/frustration and it's beautiful.

7.33 update ruined a game for me.

Playing only support roles and without any last-hitting skill whatsoever I've managed to reach a bit over 4k MMR and I've enjoyed the simplicity and pacing of an old map. There were few main points of interests and map control was a priority. Making stacks, blocking/protecting camps and placing wards in right places could decide (or significantly impact) the outcome of the match.
Now they've added 30 more camps, increased size of the map, added another rosh pit, mini-boss and static wards. WTF is this? Dota 2 has strategy in its tags for a reason. Limited space to gain networth was a cornerstone of the game. Set the dominance on the map - win the game: high risk/high reward. Now there're gazillion spots to farm and to put/counter vision.

People are taking greedy heroes and farm BECAUSE THEY CAN and they are rewarded for that. Now everyone has enough space to gain gold, what's the point of having positions anymore. Mid-laner can have just as much space to farm as carry. Instead of running around and securing 100 square kilometres of forest for cores why wouldn't support players just farm those camps - there's enough anyway? I wonder if Dota devs actually play this game and understand it.

What was the point of updating the map?
- To bring new players to the game?
Dota is a complex game on it's own - there's tons of mechanics, items and skills to learn. Now they've added more elements which even for me were overwhelming. LoL players are not going to drop LoL, just because Dota 2 got an update.

- To give fresh experience for existing players?
Most players I've encountered are "olds", who started playing before 2015 or even original dota. Most of us needs to remember to take pills before going to sleep, do you really expect us to learn new mechanics?

I know they're not going to roll back update completely, but changes must to be made.
Here's what you need to do Gaben:
  • Make map smaller by removing all new camps outside of the lane borders - will balance "farming season"
  • Remove tormentors - those things are unbalanced and rewards creep controlling heroes too much (they had a boost already this patch)
  • Remove watchers, give back vision to outposts - watchers are not intuitive and doesn't give much impact
  • Remove new outposts on the side lanes - serve no purpose if the map will be smaller
  • Give roshan his old home on the river - fights for roshan are often highlights of the match, they should be in the middle of the map.
  • Place lotus pools in the corners, (where rosh pits are now) - early laning will have additional decision making element and give a fight possibility when someone teleports from another lane to make an ambush on the pool.

Best thing I can do now is to leave a negative review and avoid playing this game.
I really hope Valve will see the statistics and adjust map in the next update, just like they did with shrines.
