It's a fantastic game to have fun with your friends, the sound and the atmosphere are spot on, weapon selection are kinda lacking but that's probably me expecting more. 5 game modes and a handful of maps make replayability lacking. but first approach is thrilling enough to make me like this game.

But BOI the AIs are atrocious.
Don't you love it when you see a civilian that you tried to rescue ran away at light speed into another room and slamming the door screaming "FxxK U" and alerting the bad men with guns next door, then the door burst open and the bad men with guns 360 no scoped your entire squad with a .357 Magnum?

Cuz i do.

The following review is solely based on my personal experience as a new player to this game.

Let's get the good things out of the way first. the graphics and the sounds are immersive. the artillery shells and the bombing run feels impactful, the gunplay and the core gameplay loop are fun. the diversity of the class system and the different loadouts sure make the gameplay fresh each time. The UI are well designed both during battles and in the Menu so that new players won't get lost. Looking at you DICE.

No microtransactions and lootboxs in game for better equipment and apart from DLC cosmetics which is nice and refreshing contrast to the AAA games. (Staring hatefully at EA).

If i enjoy the gunplay and the core gamplay loop so much, then why did i only clocked over 10 hours of gameplay at the time of writing this review? Here's why.

The class and the loadouts. i liked the diversity. but at the same time i hated it. a squad of 6 sweaty men, can have more than 4 of them with automatic weapons. In contrast to Post Scriptum, where automatic, or even semi-automatics are a rare sight to behold in a full match.(Apart from Americans who is full of Garands but anyways).

In a match, communication is key. I play with my friends in a squad, (in a nearly full lobby of people that speaks english)and shockingly, i never heard a word from the commander, only a few times. the lack of communication really isn't a good sign when we rely on our commanders so much.

The logistic department plays a heavy role on both offense and defense as they can heavily influence a match by reinforcing certain points, placing down nodes for resources and supporting the team in general. which is a good design. but instead of a dedicated logistic crew, they are placed 'comfortably' within each infantry squads. with both the support infantry and the engineer taking up 1 slot each, why can't us infantry just focus on taking points and fighting?

the Anti-tanks is another issue that i ran in with my friends. the Anti-tank infantries, first, where is my anti-tank grenades? why does Bazookas and panzerschreck have so little impact even its a well placed shot? Oh that's right! Because the tanks don't take module damage as they are health based! So we can't even disable them with a well placed engine shot. That's totally hardcore and immersive am I right? anti-tank mines does its job rather well, its kills whatever tank that ran over it, but most of the time i just see engineers running after tanks and plonking an AT Mine at the back of the tanks and shoots it. and ripping the tanks several new arseholes in true battlefield style. It is funny to look at though.

i also don't like the spawning system very much. the countdown and the penalties i can work with, but why do we have to spawn in groups and in certain intervals? why can't the countdown just stops when it hits 0 instead of resets and we can assess our surroundings and decide when to deploy? some spawn protection can also help, because being on the receiving end of spawn camping is not pleasant. The garrisons and the squad outpost spawn beacon is a great idea but executed poorly. its easily spammable as the cool down of the squad outpost beacon being too short. unlike in Post scriptum, where putting down a spawnpoint for your squad require both the squadleader and the radio operator. in Hell Let Loose, you only need the squadlead and that's it. so in most cases, the people that we gun down are mostly a single squadleader sneaking into the back line.

A balanced round is great to see but its very uncommon. its usually a one-sided match. if the enemy wins, the next round they are going to win again because we don't get to choose the team when the next round starts, we just swap sides. sure you can choose to swap side to be on the winning team, but usually, if you starts losing, you will most certainly keep losing. until you swap server that is.

I can keep on going with my rant. but its all my personal opinion being both new to this game and being a pleb. I'm not here to stop you from enjoying the game, if you do like this game then this review shouldn't really get to you. I'm only here to give new players who are trying to buy this game a general insight to some of the game's mechanics that didn't click for me.

but sadly, i really cannot recommend this game despite how i tried to like it.

After playing DS3 through the second time. Apart from Ashes of Ariandel and ringed city cuz i cannot be arsed.
i started to love fromsoft. Fromsoft hurt me cuz they love me. I'm a broken man now. Now please SONY release Bloodborne on PC FFS.

just writing for nostalgia's sake, back in 2014 and 2015, those were the fun times, the tier system, the 'bringing a high tier railgun with a tiny vehicle to one shot everyone in low tier' players, the 'put a railgun with a bunch of helium to be a orbital laser' players, the non-weaponized spotters, the match up of whoever have a dedicated nano healer they win scenarios, it might sounds broken but man was it fun back then.

i just wish that this game stayed that way.

Fun must have to see how many ways there are to kill yourself and not get through the level in one piece.

After clocking around 200hrs in Enter The Gungeon, and 100% completion, i can tell any new players that this game is totally worth you money no matter the price. It is very difficult to find a good rogue-lite with such a solid gameplay loop. There are plenty guns for you to discover and they all feel somewhat unique, active and passive items that are very balanced, plus synergies, playable characters that are actually fun and engaging to play around except a certain unlockable [REDACTED] character that is so fun and unbalanced that can probably break the game, not to forget the split-screen coop, and it works with steam remote play together, that is if your internet is good enough and a spare controller existed.
Enemy designs are good and varied, map layouts are random each floor except not really, as it is just 10-20 rooms with unique shapes randomly chosen to be interconnected with each other. Bosses are very balanced and fun to go against expect for the RAT and i hate him.
All in all its a fantastic game with stellar gunplay, an interesting story, and positively reviewed on steam. Whats not to love?
Also there is a modding community out there that adds more contents that will most certainly make your game either harder, more interesting, or just completely breaks the game, but you do you.
