Monster Hunter Wilds is another fantastic installment in the franchise, bringing many new mechanics that make gameplay and combat feel more fluid than ever. There's also a much heavier focus on the story—at least in Low Rank so far—which makes the game feel like one continuous, streamlined experience, almost like a single cinematic adventure with action-packed fights in between.

Performance-wise, the game can use some improvements. While it is not nearly as bad as some reviews make it out to be, it is still a demanding game. That said, it also looks the part—especially if you crank the settings up. If you’re unsure whether your hardware can handle it, I strongly recommend downloading the free benchmark test. That way, you can verify whether it runs at a level you’d enjoy before making a purchase.

Some reviews have raised concerns about the game’s difficulty. While I can’t comment on the endgame challenge just yet, I’d like to remind everyone that previous Monster Hunter titles also weren’t particularly difficult at launch. The real challenge has traditionally come later through title updates and DLC. In fact, the first title update has already been announced and is set to release in early April, introducing (and I quote): "a monster of formidable strength at a level above Tempered!" So for those worried about difficulty, it’s safe to expect that the challenge will ramp up over time.

Overall, Monster Hunter Wilds is shaping up to be an excellent addition to the series and is well worth checking out.

If you value your time, work, friends, or family, please, for the love of whatever you hold dear—don't start the DLC. Over the past two weeks, I’ve spent more hours on this DLC than on my full-time job, and I haven’t even explored half the planets yet.

The music is phenomenal. Each planet has its own ambiance, music tracks, and unique sound effects. The visual style of every planet is incredibly distinct, with unique structures that you’ll only see on those specific planets.

In terms of gameplay, it’s more Factorio. If you loved the base game, you’re going to love this DLC. There are four additional planets, each with its own set of limitations and possibilities. Every new planet forces you to rethink your usual Factorio habits and challenges you to figure out how to tame each unique environment. When you do, the planet rewards you with exclusive tech and upgrades that you can apply to your factories on other planets.

This creates a satisfying gameplay loop: build a factory on a new planet → bring new tech to other planets to improve those factories → repeat on a new planet. With each upgrade, your interplanetary factory network grows in scope.

Thanks to the Factoriopedia, an in-game, wiki-like resource, it’s easy to figure out your next steps if you’re lost on a new alien planet.

I highly recommend picking up this DLC, followed by a course in time management. You’ll need it to remember to eat, drink, and, worst of all, sleep.

The story starts a bit slow but picks up pace later. It is on a smaller scale compared to Endwalker, but in my opinion, this does not detract from the story being told. In this expansion, we mostly follow the story of Wuk Lamat, arguably the main character in the MSQ. While it is interesting to be more of a spectator to the unfolding events, I wish there were a few more moments where our own character takes the spotlight.

The dungeons, trials, and zones are nothing less than amazing. Square Enix finally managed to get the casual combat difficulty right, where mistakes are punished but the content is still doable even for those not very adept at the game. I can't wait to see what Savage will have in store for us when it releases.

Even though I have thoroughly enjoyed this game already, I have never felt the urge to review this game. However after the recent Sony controversy, the subsequent backlash of the community, followed by Sony walking back their decision. I feel like I need to do my part and leave my positive review to show that, yes Sony, we do indeed like this game, please leave it alone as it is.

Great game, improves on many of the gripes I had with the original, while making great use of the things they already did great(like the pawn system). The combat feels good and fluent, although the camera sometimes doesn't quite do what you would want it to do while climbing monsters, but I'm sure that's something they'll fix.

And then to reply to some of the negative comments:

Micro-transactions:
Yes, there are micro-transactions. No, you don't need them. No, you're not gonna enjoy the game less if you don't buy them.
While there are micro-transactions present, they don't make sense to get at all. Everything you can buy as a DLC, you can get within the game, and no it will not cost you a crazy amount of grind to get it either. I don't like the MTX being there either, and it is weird it exists in a single player game, but it is not nearly as bad as some reviewers make it out to be.

Performance:
Performance is okay, could be optimized better. No issues out in the wilderness, but in the bigger cities occasionally a fps spike. Nothing unplayable though.

I would not even know where to start. I have never enjoyed playing a game this much before in my life. It just offers everything I was looking for in an MMORPG. The only regret I have is that I didn't try it earlier... I was stuck in the mindset that WoW was the best MMORPG around, but I never realized just how wrong I was until I gave this game a try.

My suggestion is: Give this game a try. Even if you do not like the aesthetic at first glance, just try the free trail. And most importantly; drop your previous MMO habits. This game has an amazing story, and there is next to no reason to rush to the end. The only thing you will achieve if you try to rush to the end as fast as you can is burning yourself out before you even get halfway.

I've only played it for a little bit, still working on the main storyline. So far the story has been really good, interested what the game has to offer later on.

(edit after a couple more hours)
I can confirm this is quite a good game.

Very good looter shooter, with more reliable loot drops since you never get the item directly, but the components to build it. Very much worth a try for anyone somewhat interested!

Half Life: Alyx is a wonderfully crafted game, which beautifully combines the possibilities from VR with world and mechanics of the Half Life universe. Not only does the game do an amazing job immersing you in the world of Half Life, it also does this while riding the edge of innovation in VR developments. This game is what Boneworks would have been with a good world&story.

Region lock improves the replayability of the game immensely, making it possible to keep playing the game for many hours after your initial region has been completed.
