Early Access Review
Abandoned by the devs some considerable time ago, without any form of communication or heads up.

Many bugs remain, extremely unfinished. Think of it as an abandoned Early Access game, and be cautious about any other games the publisher and developer are involved in.

Granted, havent finished yet... Because I started new characters to make different choices to the ones I made in my main playthrough xD

All in all, I've had a blast. The new art direction took a little getting used to, but the lore of the DA world you learn, the characters (as easy as they may be), and the combat are all pretty good.

Story seems a little rushed/less refined to Inquisition, buuuut not enough to ruin my view of the game.

Updated 10th March 2024
After a lot of work on their backend, the devs have fixed my original reason to not recommend this game (as it was more or less unplayable at times). The servers now largely work as intended, bar some hiccups here and there.

Otherwise, this game is a blast! Especially if you have friends to play with :D As I'm sure many of you would have seen on social media/YT by now.

--PREVIOUS--
To be updated later:
Servers rarely accept connections, or hit "max" constantly, locking you out from playing.
Once fixed I will be happy to change this rating.

TLDR; Don't bother till they fix the server issues, you'll spend longer waiting for connection than playing.

Honestly, it'd been pretty fun.

There are a few odd little issues here and there, getting snagged on bridges/pathing issues for example - But haven't run into any other bugs or issues beyond that.

As for the game itself, it reminds me of a weird mix of Mount & Blade & XCom. The global map/travel map is very much like M&B, so if you're used to that, you'll figure it out pretty fast. And the combat is your atypical turn based system (hence "XCom").
Add in the "professions", side skills your characters can learn, skill trees, and party relationships/friendships - All in all, it's a pretty solid game. And I've been having a blast with it.

The game's end-of-turn freezing/stalling dates back to 2017 and still has not been corrected.

Learn from my mistake, don't bother with Civ VI. There's a few other contenders these days, give them a shot.

Considering how few ships this covers, the fact you'll rarely use em (if ever), and the prices they charge for this crap... Best to avoid it ;)

For what it is, and the price it is, it's a fun game that to me was worth the $$

Story: The story wasn't half bad, and I rather enjoyed it. However it is both rather short (easily finished in 10hrs or less) and lacks depth (this includes characters). So if you're fine with that, and can accept the story is more of a training setup for multiplayer, you're all set.

Multiplayer: The matches can be intense, or hectic, and can lead to rage when you get minced by the same ship/fighter/player over and over. But that's the nature of the game. When it works, it's decent fun, and as you progress and adapt your fighters to suit you it gets even more fun.

This is a 50/50 case.

If youre ok with subscribing, its an ok game. I keep rebuilding in new places, trying new designs, fiddling with new plans I've unlocked - All while hunting down or earning armour that I want.

However if you're not interested in subscribing, you'll lose a LOT of stuff you honestly should have for free (like the materials and ammo boxes). If you aren't subbing, it's good for about as long as the stories are, and maybe a tiny bit otherwise, but eventually (sooner, rather than later) the sub perk items not being accessible to you will hurt.

It's free, it's not pay to win (all the good stuff is firmly locked away in-game), it's fun, and the lore behind it is extreme.

The only downside is the grind, but that's normal for this genre.

You've got nothing to lose, so give it a shot, I've come to rather enjoy it already.

Going to start with the cons first:
-Lack of mod support
-Ending "scene" could have been better
-Lots of fetch quests/back and forth missions

Pros:
-Immersive story
-Fun class system
-Your choices do reflect throughout the game
-Diplomacy/relation system is actually pretty cool
-Great characters (for the most part)

Comments: I got this and Fallen Order, I dropped FO to play this through and finish it, and I don't regret it. Sure, it may be a little rough around the edges, but it didn't have the AAA development, and yet is still better than most AAA RPGs released today by leagues. Though I have no desire to play through the game again soon (best ending first time) I can honestly say this game was worth every cent.

If you're into good RPGs, and likes games like Mass Effect, Baldur's Gate, Dragon Age, and so forth, then you should give this a shot. You won't regret it.
