Drawing A is a basic Visual Arts course that develops drawing skills through the use of classic techniques in observational drawing; the use of different media; meeting the California Visual Arts Standards in Artistic Perception, Creative Expression, Historical and Cultural Context, Aesthetic Valuing, and Connections, Relationships, and Applications. Students will explore portrait and figure drawing; perspective drawing; color theory; composition; still life; and plein air drawing. Students will work with various media which includes (but is not limited to): graphite pencil, color pencil, ballpoint pen, dip pen and ink, wash, watercolor, pastels, charcoal, and printmaking. This drawing course is designed to meet the LAUSD High School (A-G) graduation requirement of one full year of fine art in the same discipline. Students are expected to attend class daily, arrive on time, and prepared to learn the Visual Arts Standards as they work towards mastery in the area of Drawing.
