First and foremost, this game features a terrible, terrible twist showing the creator's utter lack of any knowledge about psychology. Dissociative identity disorder is an unproven myth and an extremely lazy plot device. Putting something like that in a game in 2018 is incredibly inept. The creators also seem to be full of themselves by calling this game a "cult classic" on their sequel's website. Who else has ever called this a "cult" game or a "classic"? The mixed reviews here show way better what the majority thinks about this game: It's a flawed, somewhat amateurish first effort. The bad outweighs the good and in the end makes playing this a forgettable experience. And if you actually play till the end, you will be rewarded with some of the most cringeworthy dialogue to ever "grace" a horror title. Give this a pass, you won't miss out.

OMG, you spend all the game in a generic prison walking at a snail's pace, solving easy puzzles and the "reveal" (which is hinted on early in the game) is that the protagonist has Multiple Personality Disorder! Not only is this a really lazy plot device, pulled of by another game in 2017 ("Remothered"), but this illness does NOT exist! Do not put something like that in your game to prove your ignorance of psychology!
What else do we have here? Overworked bloom as an attempt to hide the muddy textures and underdetailed character models (doesn't work) and an option to toggle motion blur that doesn't work. This walking simulator is a bomb.

There are two-and-a-half true Doom games. This isn't one of them, and Doom Eternal will be even worse. Doom 4 is guilty of dragging down hell into Teletubby territory.

Missing optimization makes this game pretty much unplayable from area two (the sewers, about two minutes into the game). This just isn't acceptable for any game with a price tag. The game had better stayed in Early Access longer at a vastly reduced price. There's no way I can recommend a game with code that's in an Alpha stadium. Too bad, as this really shows promise.

Note: I checked the game options (lowering settings doesn't help much) and looked for useable configuration files in the game's directory (unusual for UE4 games, most of the config files are empty).

Excellent port of an excellent game. I played this a lot on me ole trusty N64. What I love about Turok the most is that it gets back to the FPS basics: naivgating both large and maze-like areas and structures, collecting keys, fighting enemies with a large and interesting arsenal of weapons, without oversimplifying things. If you look for tube-like level design and closed areas that only open after defeating waves of enemies, you will be disappointed. If you instead like to take in the atmosphere and like exploring, this may just be your cup of tea. 10/10 from me.

So the question that needs answering is: Is Outlast 2 as good or better than its highly acclaimed - and rightfully so, in my oppinion - predecessor? Technically they're about the same, although OL2 has a much larger variety of settings and some nice landscapes to show to the player. The mixture of indoor and outdoor scenarios works well. Gameplay-wise not that much has changed. You run, you hide. You now can hide in barrels, and there are parts where you need to hide underwater, but that's about as much change as you get when it comes to basic gameplay mechanics. I also found the story about some rather generic backwood cult with Christian idiosyncrasis to be highly underwhelming. The religious part of the story is just too simplistic, I expected much more. The way it's laid out is not convincing as an explanation for all the sick stuff that's going on. Is it scary? Kinda. There are some parts that made me uneasy, but I find OL1 with its sometimes surreal and consequently claustrophobic atmosphere much scarier. So, why should you buy it?
A. You just can't get enough Outlast
B. You have not played Outlast 1 (go play it!)
C. You think Outlast 1 is too scary.
My score: Compared to OL1, this gets 5/10, without comparison 6.5/10. Personally, I'd give it a pass and play OL1 + DLC again.

Well, this could've been a good game if it weren't for a bug making it impossible for me to complete like the last 10% of the game. I placed an object at a certain place (not going to spoil anything here), but the game still behaved as if I needed to place something there. So, object gone, game incompletable, five hours of my life wasted. The game also has a really annoying portal labyrinth which can take you quite some time if you're as unlucky as me. Furthermore, I had to play this on my Windows box as the Linux version would freeze when loading the first level. Posted at the board about this, no answer. So you get a severly broken game with no bug fixes in sight. This means? Right, 0/10 points. Don't get this.

Jumping zombies making grunt noises. Ridiculous. Acting is so-so.
