Hi All,

It pains me to say it but I no longer have the time required to keep the servers operating. The servers will be going down for good November 30th. It's been a pleasure fragging with all of you and I hope to keep in touch. The community will remain open for those of you who wish to stay in contact with each other.

After my last post regarding needing to shut the serves down due to financial reasons several of you came forth and offered to share the burden. I really appreciate this. Thanks to those who have donated I'll be keeping the servers going for as long as it's feasible to do so. They won't be going down next week after all.

The initial rotation server has been running since August '11. Since then we've built a community of some pretty cool people, and added a few servers on to the original one.

Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end. I haven't had time to play or do much of anything but fix small issues here and there as they arise. I don't foresee this changing in the near future.

On top of that, servers are expensive to maintain. I've never been one to push hard for donations, and I don't wish to run a community that forces users to watch Pinion advertisements just to play a game. The drawback to this viewpoint is that it has been quite costly to myself to keep the servers running.

As much as it saddens me, I can no longer justify to myself keeping the servers operating. I'll be taking the servers offline after March 17th.

Thanks to all of you for being a great group of people to relax with after long and stressful days. To those that contributed to the community, I can't thank you enough. It has meant a lot to me.

Our host is doing maintenance on our machine tonight. The machine will be going down for maintenance at 11:30PM PST. The servers will be unavailable at this time.

Full message from our host:

We are planning to reboot the machine hosting your VDS at 11:30pm PST on November 19, 2012, in order to upgrade it to the most recent version of Xen. This new version should offer higher performance and may also offer better stability.

For the reboot, your VDS will need to be shut down for approximately 15-30 minutes. We will attempt to gracefully shut it down on our end through Xen, but some OSes don't support this properly, so we advise that you turn it off from inside the OS if you plan to be online a few minutes before the maintenance event. This will avoid the unlikely possibility of data loss.

Following the reboot, we will also attempt to reactivate the drive that is no longer part of the RAID, to see if it has actually failed or if it was booted from the array for a more benign reason. This has the possibility of causing another crash, so we recommend only lightly using the VDS for the first hour or so after it boots.

Now that the Halloween event is over, I've converted the server to run MGE Mod. Those of you competitive minded players, or those interested in doing some 1v1s head on over and check it out. The address is:
