CS:GO Basics

Money: http://www.vakarm.net/files/aks/Cash_Csgo_Vakarm_Final.jpg AK47 costs 2700, M4 is 3100. Armor+helmet is 1000. Frag grenade is 300, flash 200, smoke 300.

So vaguely for a full buy you need around 4500 on T side and 4900 on CT side (technically 5300 because a defuse kit is 400 dollars and lets you defuse the bomb in half the time (5 seconds)).

Guns are purchased at the start of each round. The first round, pistol round, is pistols only. The main guns you will see are the AK47 on T side, the M4 on CT side, and the AWP (sniper rifle) on both sides.

The 'rules' of CS are pretty simple. Games are 5v5, first to 16 rounds. Switch sides at 15 rounds. All maps are demolition, so the Terrorist team is ideally supposed to plant and detonate the bomb, and the CTs can defuse it. Alternatively you can eliminate the enemy team to win. Round time is 1:45 in league style games. If a game goes 15-15, typical overtime rules are each team getting $10000 starting money and you play 3 rounds on each side, have to get 4 rounds to win.

As for maps, the competitive pool is currently 7 maps. de_dust2, de_inferno, de_mirage, de_cache, de_nuke, de_overpass, and de_cobble. The order I have them in is vaguely the order of popularity in top level play. Some leagues do not use Cobble still as it's widely unliked in the competitive community and instead use de_season.

There's tons of CSGO teams, but the current top teams in the recent past are Fnatic, LDLC, and NIP. Other high level EU teams include Dignitas, Virtus Pro, and Navi. The only 2 teams considered vaguely tier-2 maybe in NA are Cloud9 and a team currently with no sponsor (previously was sponsored by iBuyPower). There's also 2 up and coming NA teams recently picked up, those being CLG and Team Liquid.

There's not really one central CSGO league, moreso various smaller ones. ESEA is a big one, along with CEVO, Faceit, and SLTV Starseries (EU). For most big events like majors, there'll be qualifier tournaments for teams to get spots, as well as several highly regarded top teams will typically receive exclusive invites.

HLTV.org is a good place to look at information about teams and upcoming events.

You could add titan to the cs go basics, they do have arguably the best sniper in thr game on their team and are considered one of thr top teams as well
