Changes;


- Riflemen now outrange rocket troops as their main purpose is anti-infantry. (fixes the issue where rocket troops would fire on a garrisoned structure and riflemen wouldn’t fire back)

- Adjusted Build times on some tech structures that were too long.
The crane now only builds non-tech buildings (to further encourage strategic choice making as far as tech goes)

- Tier 3 units are much tougher.

- Explosion FX added to superweapon structures, conyards and tiberium based structures

- Various smaller changes

There's a readme included with the download for help installing etc.

No maps in this versio, will be releasing them separately.

The mod is due for one more release but it'll be released as it currently is instead of how version 1.4 was planned to be. This isn't ideal obviously but it's beyond my ability to do anything else. I'm tweaking some maps that I think are really worth getting into this release so hopefully in the next two weeks I'll get that done and the final release will be available.

On a differnet note, I recently decided to start a new Steam group with the hope of finding people who appreciate the same kinds of games I do, games I subjectively call "Classics".

I regard classics as old games that still deserve play time today because they still have something that other newer games haven't managed to replicate or improve upon. Or games that should be regarded as classics in the future. Games that are fun to play co-operatively, games that have a retro feel, are mod friendly, are often made by indie developers, games that innovate rather than copy & paste and improve the graphics by 10%. Games that are quick and fun to play rather than being slow to master and where play time takes hours.

I'll still be involved with this group for a couple more months then I'll be switching most of my attention to the new one.

It's been an embarrassingly long time since we posted an update, and an even more embarrassingly long time since we actually released something.

The TALON mod team is two people of which I (HawK) am very much the small cog. I come up with silly ideas, make maps and look busy. The quintessential guy with a clipboard who points a lot. Svein is the genius behind the scenes, but as with many geniuses they are in high demand with other projects as well as having real life responsibilities that take them away from such a project. Sometimes they just need to know that there's a demand for something that requires so much time of their time. With this mod we've had thousands of downloads over the years but not a whole lot of feedback regarding the interest in a new release. And that feedback helps drive us more than you know.

So if you want to see version 1.4 post here, friend Svein in Steam (http://steamproxy.net/profiles/76561198000439517/), send him a message, post on the TALON Clan forum (www.talonclan.com), or send him flowers. It'll all help let him know that people appreciate the work he has done and want to see it continue. And hopefully we'll guilt the **** out of him and get what we want: TALON Mod 1.4!

In the meantime, because it's been so long since we released 1.3, I will send a link to the current working version to anyone who messages me.

It’s been a while but we are looking to release a new version of the mod soon. Svein & I haven’t been able to work on it as much as we would like to because of other commitments, but we always talk about the mod on a regular basis, brain storm and play as often as possible. These long periods between releases, although longer than desired, do allow us to really analyise how the mod is playing and what still needs to be worked on.

As an insight into that, we felt that it’s currently too hard to get to Tier 3 and that Tier 3 units after that took too long to build. So we’re definitely addressing that. There also seemed to be some adjustments needed with the defenses, some seemed a little too powerful, others a little under powered.

We also noticed that missile squads were out-ranging riflemen as well as out gunning them, and overall we wanted to make regular infantry much better against missile squads. So that’s been worked on.
There has also been a lot of work done on making more upgrades work on a per unit basis instead of being a global effect.

Some lower upgrades were being reached too late in the game and therefore often ignored, so we wanted to make some upgrades available at Tier 1. This currently applies to Kevlar Vehicular armor (which is being removed from APC’s) on Predators.

Rigs have been tweaked so that they are available T1 and they deploy quicker. They aren’t cheap though and they are capped to one (rig but not battlebase).

Walls are being significantly strengthened.

Tiberium is more dangerous to (GDI & Nod) units.

Tiberium Infusion has been added as per unit upgrade to more Nod Infantry units.

All engineers are now immune to Tiberium.

GDI Infantry armor upgrades make them resistant to Tiberium but not immune.

Tiberium Vibration Scan is now available for all factions on the radar structure at Tier 1.

Some units that are designed to clear garrisoned building or shoot Air Units (Pitbulls, grenadiers etc.) have been adjusted so that they are less effective against non-primary targets.

EMP durations and counter abilities adjusted.

And there are of course several new maps, this time a lot of tweaked or re-imagined versions of several vanilla maps.
