Sector Seventeen is a successor of Lambda Wars from the old Facepunch forums.

The year is 2029. The Combine has been in control of Human civilization for merely a decade.
Before the Combine came, Earth was already in a terrible shape. Due to the Black Mesa incident in 2003, Humanity entered a time of hopelessness and darkness. These were known as the Dark Years. Almost all wildlife had been eradicated by creatures from Xen and events such as portal storms and interdemensional radiation waves. Almost all locations on Earth became unhabitable and the UN was forced to mass-evacuate citizens all around Earth into safe cities. One of the safest and biggest cities being City Seventeen. Millions of people died during the Dark Years and huge amounts old-world knowledge had been lost, even the true city names became only a secret of the past.

After more than a decade of depression, the next stage of extinction started.
An alien empire known as the Combine accidentally stumbled upon Earth as they were in persuit of an alien race known as the Vortigaunts that arrived on Earth during the Black Mesa incident. It only took seven hours for the Combine to conquer Earth. The United Nations were forced to disband and all authority over Earth was given to old Black Mesa administrator Dr. Wallace Breen. Humans are being mined for military assets and engineering drones.
Earth is slowly being terraformed by both the Combine's depletion of resources and the constant environmental terrors that are sent through by portal storms.

The current year is 2029. All over Eurasia, small factions rise to the surface. Some of them help the Combine in their efforts and are looking to create a safe place in the Combine's military forces. Others are there to try and stop the Combine at all costs and a minority of groups just wander the Earth and focus on their own goals.

Sector Seventeen is an open-world RPG-styled game.
The game is based off of Garry's Mod and Discord. Discord is being used to come together and have factions interact with each other, while Garry's Mod is being used to create visual content.

Players create a faction through applications which are being reviewed by both veteran players and staff - most HL2RP-players will be familiar with this system. Once their faction has been approved, they're given acces to numerous regions all over Eurasia which include the current playable sectors: Sector 17 and Sector 12. Currently, a detailed gameworld of City 17 is being build by the staff. In the future, gameworlds such as North Africa will be added.
