In the world's infancy, there were mighty, powerful dieties. These gods were tasked with the creation of their new world. To do this, the gods created runes... powerful artifacts that controlled each aspect of the planet. The four most powerful runes: fire, water, air, and earth were given overseers, known as lords. The lords gained followers, evetually forming factions. For thousands of years these factions were peacful, but tensions were rising. There was competition over which rune was the most powerful.

And there could only be one.
