This is how the petro dollar keeps the US dollar a float.

US buys majority of its oil from saudis > saudi pays US corporations to extract the oil > US banks then loan out money to growing markets to spur global demand (some countries could be brazil, argentina, and turkey) > saudis now buy oil from US and growing markets > saudis put petrodollars into sovereign wealth funds to invest it in non petro assets within US including US treasuries increasing the price of the dollar. Back to step 1.
