Publishers and Developers We Miss

--Our Cause:
Bringing wanted game titles and developers to Steam. However, we are at the moment just aiming at the classic titles (games published before 2005). Mainly because classic titles is nearly impossible to get anymore.

Steam is the largest online digital distribution and multiplayer community platform in the world. In recent years, the community has grown rapidly to become the support for modern gaming, both offline and online.

Steam was first made available in 2002, during the beta period for Counter-Strike 1.6.

In 2004, the release of Half-Life 2 was a huge success for the company and their reputation grew. Initially, Valve’s own games were published directly via Steam but, in 2005, games developed by other developers and publishers were introduced.

The release of The Orange Box in 2007, containing some of Valve’s best sellers, was also a huge step, and triggered the Golden Age of Steam. The most popular game series were released on Steam. Vacation times for gamers have become filled with stunning sales, which many gamers find hard to resist.

These days, not only new games are sold on Steam. In 2007, id Software (Valve’s old buddy) released their whole catalog—including games as old as 15 years—and it made the dusty old games available to a new generation of gamers. Steam also allows smaller titles from independent developers to be seen by a larger community.

There are still developers and publishers out there that we want to join Steamworks—therefore, this petition was made. If you miss a game: Join this group, then Tell others; then we will be one step closer to finding people with the same opinion, and Steam and the developers may see us. When we get their attention, maybe things will start happening.

Steam isn't the only digital distribution platform, and we think that's the main reason why developers and publishers hold back, but if they see that they would make a profit by selling through Steam then they may change their minds. That's also why this group is aiming to bringing more classic titles to Steam instead of new ones. Bringing classic games to Steam (those published before 2005) will be a slight possibility.

Reasons to start publishing games on Steam:
*Valve has always been helpful towards indie devs.
*40'000'000 active user accounts.
*Steam Cloud - a feature that back-up your save files.
*Valve Anti Cheat - an Anti-Cheat function.
*Steam Inventory - Trade games and in-game items with friends.
*Steam Workshop - an open market for game mods.
*Steam is also available on Mac, which gives the opportunity for cross-platform play.
*Not only the game itself is available, tools and dedicaded servers can also be made available.
