Overkill Software are the creators and developers of PAYDAY: The Heist. They are a privately held game development company that was founded in September 2009. There is currently talk that fellow Swedish deveopers Starbreeze Studios wants to buy Overkill Software and fold them into their company.Payday: The Heist is a downloadable cooperative first-person shooter video game developed by Overkill Software and published by Sony Online Entertainment. It was released on October 18, 2011 for PlayStation 3 in North America and November 2, 2011 in Europe.[5] It was also released on October 20, 2011 for Windows via Steam software in both the United States and the United Kingdom.The game plays from the first person perspective, but offers a few twists on the standard FPS formula. Killing civilians is frowned upon, meaning players have the option of restraining civilians until the heist concludes. Should any player die during the heist, one of his teammates may release a civilian in exchange for the player to respawn. Each heist is generated randomly, though it typically involves dealing with law enforcement, which can range from standard patrol officers to SWAT operatives.Overkill Software promised DLC before the game's launch. In October 2011 the first of these was revealed to include a Nixon mask, new equipment, skills, characters, and heists.
This DLC is named Wolf Pack, scheduled to release on August 1st on the European PlayStation Store and on August 7th for the North American PlayStation Store and PC.
