So, after THREE LONG YEARS it seems the creators of the turn-based strategy game Civilization V finally delivered their promise (sort of) and we can get a dedicated-ish server going! Those who have been around in the fandom for a while might remember we hosted a game of Civilization IV about three or four years ago involving nine furs from NZ and Australia which went on for several months (before being abruptly cut short by a server crash ☹). This was very popular and I’d love to host another for those interested!

Rules are simple: if you’re keen to play, you’re expected to log in and make your move at least once every 24 hours. Once this timer is up (or everyone has made their move), the 24 hour timer is reset and a new round plays. It’s okay to miss the occasional turn every now and again but it would be ideal if you make every day (turns are roughly 2 to 5 minutes long so it shouldn’t be too hard). Everyone will be alerted through their Steam Client automatically when the next turn has started and the timer has been reset. Teams will not be organized: you’re welcome to plot and scheme as you wish!

We’ll also organize nights where we’ll try to get everyone logged in at the same time on occasion. These were very popular and a great way to blow though heaps of turns in a night, but we’ll coordinate these around everyone’s schedules.

Unfortunately, Civilization V will not be running on a dedicated server *yet* (although it will be once the dedicated server is released by the developers), so on occasion the server (my home PC) might not be available. We might also pause the game or extend the timer for a few days if players wish, such as during Christmas. I’ll make sure to let all players know whenever this happens.

If anyone is interested, leave a message here or message TC Foxtaur on Steam with your preferred Leader/Civilization (first in, first served!) and any preferences on game options by November 3rd!

Hello fuzzles!

It's been a good long while since we've had a good decent-sized catch up, so why don't we organize a trip to the zoo? I'm planning simultaneous furmeets at the Auckland Zoo, Wellington Zoo and Orana Wildlife Park on Saturday, 28th April between 11:30am and 5:00pm (5:30pm for Auckland). Prices are between $20 and $25 for adults ($15 to $21 for students), depending on your location. Aucklanders, if we get 15 or more people in a group, there's also a $1 discount per person on Adult tickets.

Let me know in the comments below if you're keen to go to which event, and if you're keen to help! We've got Auckland pretty much sorted, but Orana Park and Wellington would benefit from a couple of keen organizers!

Sorry guys, just haven't managed to muster up the kind of support we'd need to pull something like this off. Civ V and Retro LAN nights are going to be put on hold indefinately until I can find a few more interested furs in the idea.

If you contacted me about possibly having a game or two, IM me and I'll see if we can just put on a spur-of-the-moment casual game. Other than that, ah well, it was worth a shot. :3

Remember those good old days of Counter Strike, Unreal Tournament, Age of Empires, Freelancer and the like? I'll be putting on a LAN night in the next few days with a bunch of furs here and relive some of the classics! I'll be hosting an Unreal Tournament GOTY Edition night one night, and might look into an Age of Empires II match with anyone else interested too! Throughout the whole period I'm also going to fire up a Freelancer server for people to connect to while I'm playing, and will likely leave it running 24/7 depending on demand. Any takers, let me know!

I've also only found four interested players for Civ V so far (one of these isn't even a furry), so I'm going to make a call out here and see if I've missed anyone who wanted to join! Let me know ASAP and I'll get it all organized (we'll get a schedule sussed out when we know who's joining in, for now I just want a show of interest!)
