NMC Studios today announced that they are the handsome and proud recipients of a 2018 Unreal Dev Grant. Epic Games, creators of the Unreal Engine, have created a $5,000,000 development fund to provide financial grants to innovative projects built in and around Unreal Engine 4. Awards range from $5,000 to $50,000, and there are no strings attached. NMC Studios continues to own the notmycar IP, are free to publish however they wish, and can use the grant funds without any restrictions or obligations to Epic. The grant award will be put toward furthering the march to Steam Early Access later this year.

Today we're announcing four weeks of new pre-alpha playtesting weekends for notmycar. You can get your hands on all the latest updates in notmycar starting this Friday and every weekend for the next four weeks. To make things better, anyone who signs up at notmycar.com for playtesting by Friday May 25th, 2018 at noon PST is guaranteed to get a key so they can start playing right away! The full playtest schedule is below:

Warm up those engines! This weekend we're doing a targeted test of the new dedicated server tech. We need to get as many players onto the test servers as possible. Join us on Sunday during the testing window below to help us kick the tires on this new gear:

March 18, 4-6pm PDT (7-9pm EDT)

Pay attention, because this part is important - There are going to be a lot of players on the servers this weekend. There are also likely to be some bugs. If you can't get into a match right away, don't give up! Keep trying and you're bound to get your chance to kick some tailpipe. 

Hey drivers! We wanted to let you know there's no playtest this weekend. After the previous couple of tests we have learned a lot about getting our servers properly stood up and configured so that we can scale them for a bigger audience.

As you know, we had an issue with matchmaking where people were being placed into low volume servers. In order to make matches better we need to have them fill up so we can get feedback based on how the game is supposed to be played. We've made huge strides in addressing this but we're not ready to roll it out to the server updates yet. Because of that, it doesn't make sense on our side to use last week's build and have matches running with lower numbers again. We won't learn anything new and it'll be a crappy experience for people. We're going to be taking the next few weeks to make the necessary server updates and then we'll get back to testing.

Apologies if you were hoping to play this weekend but we'll have more information about our next play test date soon.

Update 3:45PM

We're back up and servers are live! Please make sure you are on build (0.7.2394). Also, fully uninstall and reinstall the game when getting the build.

This will ensure that you have the best chance of connecting and making it into a match.
