One of the few old world organizations to survive the Great War, the Enclave was once the shadow government of the United States. Members of the Enclave both embraced the idea of a nuclear war and knew that the common man could not survive it. They believed that as long as the "important people" of the United States survived, they could regroup quickly and wipe out communism once and for all. Though not technically part of the Enclave, many powerful corporations benefited from the Enclave's actions and their research facilities were protected during the firestorm of 2077.

In 2073, as the global race to exploit the handful of remaining natural resources reached its fevered peak, the United States managed to stake a claim on the world's last known supply of crude oil, buried thousands of feet beneath the Pacific Ocean. Poseidon Oil, a major U.S. energy concern, was contracted to build an oil rig and extract the oil. Before long, the oil ran dry and it was abandoned by Poseidon. Come 2077, with total nuclear war rapidly arriving at America's doorstep, the President of the United States and a number of other United States government officials left their posts to take refuge in a number of secret locations around the world. Among them was the Poseidon oil rig. Here, the President himself set up a secret base from which the USA could continue to exist and wage war on China, with the eventual goal of retaking the continental United States.

Based on the original FEV-II recovered by the Enclave at Mariposa Military Base's ruins, FEV Curling-13 is a viral agent tailored to reach maximum levels of lethality with minimal exposure levels required to achieve the result. It was being developed under the direction of Lt. Col. Dr. Charles Curling of the Chemical Corps since 2236, to provide the means for the Enclave's second holocaust.

Unlike FEV-II, which required a severe overdose and low radiation count in the subject to work correctly, Curling-13 killed indiscriminately. Just a .0001% aerosol solution exposure was enough to kill Arroyo villagers in under one hour, as massive hemorrhaging and inflammations start, leading to a complete failure of the victim's organs within sixty minutes. No test subject survived the tests on the Oil Rig.

Significant radiation-induced mutation may be beneficial if you're exposed to the virus, however - pure humans would suffer a much worse fate. Pure Vault 13 dwellers exposed to the virus expected subdermal hemorrhaging and convulsions within sixty minutes of exposure, but their agony lasted much longer - 14.5 hours on average.

The Enclave's manufacturing capacity was tremendous - within six weeks they could produce 250,000 gallons of the virus and unleash it on the world just by spraying it into the jetstreams converging at the Oil Rig - the winds would then carry the virus worldwide, achieving global saturation in two weeks. Only Humans and human-based mutants would be eradicated, however - FEV was engineered to bond only with human glyco-proteins, leaving other animals and plantlife alive and quite kicking.

Advanced Power Armor
The armor was created by the Enclave's skilled team of engineers and scientists after the Great War, as a result of a research program initiated in 2198, part of a larger project to develop various technologies. In 2215 the first actually superior suit is manufactured, entering service in 2220. Various accidents/explosions/deaths involved in its creation are classified by order of the Enclave's President ♥♥♥♥ Richardson for the sake of the morale of the Enclave's personnel.

It is composed of lightweight metal alloys, reinforced with ceramic castings at key stress points. The motion-assist servo-motors used in the armor appear to be high quality models as well, giving the wearer a +4 strength bonus. The suit has an auto-gyro system to keep it upright and the knees can be locked in position, to prevent the wearer from falling over, if, for some reason, he loses consciousness on duty (e.g. takes a nap). Additionally, like the T-51b Power Armor, it includes a recycling system that can convert human waste into drinkable water, enhancing survival.

Advanced power armor Mk II
Like its older brother, the Mk II version is matte black with a menacing appearance, but with a few significant differences. It is composed entirely of lightweight ceramic composites rather than the usual combination of metal and ceramic plates, with a back-mounted power pack, instead of the built-in ventilated power unit of its predecessor.

Early versions used under the command of President ♥♥♥♥ Richardson in 2241 used a similiar design to the standard advanced power armor. However, following the destruction of the oil rig, the Enclave forces who made their way to the Capital Wasteland had redesigned its appearance by 2277, while keeping the "Advanced power armor Mk II" designation.

Tesla power armor
Mk I variant
Unlike the pre-Great War Tesla armor, this armor a variant of the Enclave's advanced power armor jury-rigged with a Tesla device that is capable of dispersing a large percentage of the damage done by directed-energy attacks. Additionally, the armor makes the operation of energy weapons by the wearer easier, boosting the energy weapons skill of the operator.

The only known suit of this type is the Gannon family Tesla armor.

Mk II variant

This armor a variant of the Enclave's advanced power armor jury-rigged with a Tesla device that is capable of dispersing a large percentage of the damage done by directed-energy attacks. Additionally, the armor makes the operation of energy weapons by the wearer easier, boosting the energy weapons skill of the operator. This armor is available in fallout new vegas only through console commands.

Hellfire power armor
This armour is the result of a post-War research project undertaken by the Enclave at the Adams Air Force Base. It was one of several concurrent research projects, including one on Duraframe Eyebots and ended up being the only one to be fully completed; other projects, much to chagrin of researchers such as Whitley, were cancelled in favour of the new model of power armour.

This heat-resistant type of power armor is used by specialized Enclave Hellfire troopers as well as a few regular Enclave soldiers.

The AEP7 laser pistol was put into service to replace the AEP5 model. With a generous battery size, tight shot grouping at range, resilience to extended use, and fairly decent damage output, it is a very good choice for a sidearm and is used extensively in this role by the Brotherhood of Steel and the Enclave in the Capital Wasteland.

It was the successor to the AEP5, boasting a redesigned focusing crystal pattern, an improved photonic focusing chamber and a selectable laser focus. In addition, it was lighter and less bulky than its predecessor (although still fairly cumbersome compared to the Wattz 1000) and was perceived as a step toward replacing the N99 with a laser weapon as the standard issue sidearm for military forces.

The AEP7 was produced in large numbers, thanks to newly developed manufacturing technologies in the USA, although logistics and supply issues in pre-War USA caused by its prolonged war with China prevented its wide-scale deployment.
