Nades took the servers down. People lost interest and moved on. Nades was in the somewhat unique position that he could run all the servers and the website at no cost. He used resources that were available to him through his employment. To restart one of the servers would cost about $25 US a month. We ran four. Depending on your host you could get a website that would could handle a forum and Source Bans. Running something like HLstats would require an upgrade to the website and cost another $8 US per month.
Like I said, Nades was in a unique position where all of the servers and website cost him nothing.
