Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender

LGBT (or GLBT) is an initialism referring collectively to lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people. In use since the 1990s, the term "LGBT" is an adaptation of the initialism "LGB", which itself started replacing the phrase "gay community", which many within LGBT communities felt did not represent accurately all those to whom it referred. In modern usage, the term LGBT is intended to emphasize a diversity of "sexuality and gender identity‐based cultures" and is sometimes used to refer to anyone who is non‐heterosexual instead of exclusively to people who are homosexual, bisexual, or transgender.[1][2] To recognize this inclusion, a popular variant adds the letter Q for queer or those questioning their sexual identity (e.g., "LGBTQ").

The acronym has become mainstream as a self-designation and has been adopted by the majority of LGBT community centers and LGBT media in many English‐speaking countries.

We hope you're staying warm! (But not too warm, if you're in a place that's already...well...warm.) But whether you’re hunkered down with your Steam Dec- uh, I mean loved one, or finally tackling that "I’ll play it eventually" library, we hope your holidays are absolutely warm of heart!

As we wrap up another year of love, gaming, and love of gaming, we want to remind you that you're NOT alone. Keep your spirits and your frame rates high! We hope you’re able to be your true, authentic selves this season with no "stealth mode" required. "Bi" the way...(see what I did there?) if you see any hidden gems during the Winter Sale, be sure to share them in the comments or group chat!

Okay, no more dad jokes, and rest assured, all gay puns are handcrafted by a 100% organic, carbon-based gamer. Because honestly? An AI would never understand the specific, crushing emotional weight of buying a $60 AAA title just to spend 400 hours playing a pixel-art farming sim instead. Dear community,

Unlike our announcement for Pride Month 2024, this year's message carries a more serious tone. We are all witnesses to how quickly the world can shift - and how easily the rights and freedoms generations before us fought for can be threatened or stripped away.

As shadows spread their arms over cities, states, and industries, true allies reveal themselves - while those who only ever sought to profit from our existence show their true faces.

Despite this darkness of hate, discrimination, and despair, not all is lost. While the balance of power in some parts of the world shifts further against us, LGBTQIA+ communities elsewhere are achieving real victories and progress.

These examples remind us: there is hope. And you should hold on to it - because hope fuels action. And action leads to change, change that improves the lives of us all.
They want you to believe there is no hope, hells, they try to silence us by bombarding our people with wave after wave of discriminatory laws - aiming to divide us, pit us against each other, and wear us down. Because if we fall silent now, they win more easily.

But we're still here. And we're showing unity!

The first Pride was a Riot!

All the dystopian realities we face - increased hate crimes, rising censorship, scapegoating, and erasure - can leave you feeling scared, scarred, lost, or alone. But hear this clearly:
You Are NOT Alone.

There are people who go through the same things you are. People fighting right now - for your rights, their rights, and the rights of those still to come! There were people like us in the past, no matter how hard others try to rewrite or erase them. And there will be people like us in the future.

We owe it to all of them - past, present, and future - to act. To preserve the historical, cultural, and medical knowledge of our community. To remember, remind, and honor those who were wronged, to carry the names of those we have lost.

Queer people have survived before. Right now, many are surviving in countries where our very existence is considered illegal.
So yes - survive you can, and survive you will, even if the world feels like it's burning down in an inferno around you.
When they try to wipe us off the internet, save study results, historic records, as well as queer media on hard drives. Build local support networks IRL with people you trust, so you can rely on one another when it matters the most. Be careful online! Don't just trust everyone. Help where you can, but always prioritize your own safety. Some will try to use the good in you to put you in danger.

Don't let the world forget you, but stay in the shadows if needed for to stay safe. Your safety matters the most.

Be the Change!

If we want to see change, we must be the ones to drive it!
We cannot rely solely on political parties, companies, or distant movements to fix our local realities. If you want discrimination-free workplaces, then don't support companies that enable hate or refuse to take a stance against discrimination. If you're young, still in school: focus on your grades, invest free time for extra qualifications, apply for internships, start building a future. Join movements or political parties that align with most of your values. Be the reason for new workplaces exist where people like you can feel safe and thrive. Push existing organizations organization or parties to change for the better. Help them evolve, or build new ones from the ground up.

Celebrate!

Even with setbacks and ongoing struggles, don’t forget to celebrate who you are and all those who came before you, those who fought for all the good in life we have.
If you cannot access Pride events in person, know that there are still many online spaces, virtual Pride events, and game communities where you can connect, share joy, and feel seen. Your Pride is valid - even if it’s quiet, even if it’s invisible to others.

Take Care of Yourself!

Last but not least, take care of your wellbeing, a lot of negative news can leavy your in a dark places, obviously it's important to stay up to date and informed, but please take care of what news you're consuming, and how much. Limit it to a certain amount and don't undervalue good news. Rest when needed and talk to someone or listen to other who understand.

Your mental health is part of the resistance. Don't let them take that from you.
