A group dedicated to offering members top notch L4D2 realism versus servers running a config called larrymod. larrymod
This server, by default, runs a config called larrymod.

The goal of this config is to offer a competitive versus experience with balanced gameplay and without sacrificing core features of the game.

A lot of the fixes and modifications to the config come from other competitive configs, namely Zonemod, Promod, Acemod, and Nextmod, but various elements from these configs are excluded or modified in larrymod in order to maintain features that are core to the game. Most of these configs achieve part of their competitive balance through the removal of core game features, and although this is an effective method, it is at the expense of losing some of the original strategy, gameplay and enjoyment associated with those elements. These core features include:
  • Tier 2 weapons
  • Throwables
  • Pills/adrenaline
  • Melee weapons
  • Med kits
  • Special ammo & weapon addons
  • Dead stops
  • The Witch
Additionally, there are some major aspects of larrymod that are unique to the config such as:
  • Med kits will only give temp health
  • Tanks have 7000 health
  • Inability to equip fire ammo with the grenade launcher
  • Various fixes and balance changes. Learn more.
The base of larrymod is Realism Versus, a mutation that is built into the game. The main features of Realism Versus are:
  • The witch cannot be crowned and she will kill a standing survivor in one hit.
  • Players on the survivor team cannot see the glows of their teammates.
  • Common Infected deal more damage, have higher health, and body shots are less effective.

Server Changes for January 26, 2025
larrymod 3.7 - Turquoise Chair

General Fixes/Updates:

  • medkits will now heal a survivor up to a total of 40 permanent health and the rest will be temporary health
    • if you have less than 40 perm health and you heal, your health after the heal will be 40 perm health + temp health
    • if you have more than 40 perm health before you heal, you will not receive any additional perm health. Your health after the heal will be the perm health you had previous to the heal and the rest will be temp health
    • helps survivors track their incap count
    • adds a feature that allows survivors to maintain their movement speed if they don't take any damage before their temp health depletes
  • added the ability for the infected team to vote for which teammate will play as Tank in the current round
  • jockey & smoker claw damage increased from 4 to 5 per scratch
  • removed l4d2_wskin_rng plugin in favor of the SirPlease Competitive Rework weapon skin enabler script (modified for larrymod to include more weapons & skins)
    • should fix bug with being able to spawn infinite guns by picking up new guns
  • added current team scores to the readyup menu
  • reworked l4d2_blind_infected_rup plugin (scouting period)
    • optimized method for hiding items & weapons
    • items on first map are now hidden until round starts from all players & spectators except items in saferoom or items held by survivors
    • items hidden from spectators
  • added l4d_common_ragdolls_be_gone_larrymod plugin
    • commons vanish on death for spectators
    • admin specs can turn ragdolls on/off for themselves
  • removed deprecated l4d2_scores plugin
  • turned off Lamp plugin model precaching in all maps that don’t use lamps
  • added anti-juggle plugin: juggling of items will now be restricted. Repeated pickups of certain items over a short interval will prevent subsequent pickups of the same item for a short period of time to prevent juggling of items from one area to another (i.e. juggling fire ammo and your medkit to keep both for the tank fight ahead).

Dead Center:

No Mercy:

    • added invisible blockers above kitchen cabinets to prevent spit from seeping through the floor into the kitchen above

Blood Harvest:
  • Map 2
    • blocked witch spawn in left-hand side train tunnel as she always spawns in the narrow space between the train and wall in this area due to the nav escape route path
  • Map 3
    • prevent players from getting stuck between the stairs and the tiny wall ridge on the way back out of the tunnels just after the campsite area
  • Map 4
    • added beams next to added traincar at start of bridge at end of Blood Harvest map 4 to prevent survivors from falling and getting stuck between the traincar and bridge railing

The Passing:
  • Map 1
    • added stairs from Zonemod to start of passing map 1
    • removed some extra random junk/trash models in the map to prevent the new stairs from crashing the map from too many entities

All Mods

General Fixes/Updates:

  • Increased the "forced" jockey sound volume level to what it's supposed to be.
  • Fixed wrong stumble directions on Special Infected and Survivors.
  • Fixed an issue where Survivors get launched into the sky when pulled while stumbled.
  • Fixed a critical issue in l4d2_hybrid_scoremod.smx (and the ZoneMod version) where if a Survivor made it into the end saferoom but was incapacitated, the chapter score would still update as if they were a standing survivor.
  • Fixed Tanks "respawning" with ~4-5k Health after dying as AI.
  • Fixed shoves not registering on common infected climbing ladders.
  • Fixed charger clears sometimes boosting Survivors into the sky.
  • Fixed a longstanding issue when players that are becoming the Tank spectating/disconnecting right before getting control.
  • Fixed an issue where spawned Special Infected might be queued to the front when killed by trigger_hurt.
  • Fixed witch spawning issues on c1m3 for configs that were basing their map changes on ZoneMod while enabling witches.
  • Fixed issues with the magnum limit.
    • Players are no longer able to pick up a magnum if a currently incapacitated player normally has one, which would make the original owner get up without a secondary.
  • Fixed hittables bouncing off of rotated physics blockers (example: c2m2 before warehouse).
  • Added cfg/cvar_tracking which the repository uses to have a much better baseline of cvars that should be checked on clients for abuse.
    • This is done so that we don't have to assume that server owners setup and configure SMAC/LILAC to do it properly.
  • Added back the default loading of firebulletsfix.smx which resolves the issue of bullets being misplaced by 1 tick.
    • After this was proven to still be an issue in L4D2, I've decided to add it back.
  • Added the possibility for config owners to allow gascans to break the smoker tongue when using l4d_tongue_bend_fix.smx.
  • Added/updated Spanish translations for a heap of plugins.
  • Refactored/Cleaned a bunch of plugins.
  • Recompiled and tested every plugin on Sourcemod v1.11 as we currently still support it.

    • Survivors will no longer ledgehang at the final ladder to the saferoom.

    • Remove "spooky" looping sounds.

Suicide Blitz 2:

    • The wall facing the elevator can only be broken by Special Infected or by the explosion from the event.
    • The elevator vent will no longer open up when the elevator is falling.

    • The Event Alarm will now fade out.

Undead Zone:

    • Removed the color correction.

Urban Flight:
  • Map 3
    • Fixed a bunch of stuck spots.

Server Changes

  • Added set player health admin options & plugins.
    • Admins can now give survivors health and reset their revive count (can be used in instances such as when a player crashes and loses a lot of health before the pause).
  • Removed the slow AFK printouts at the end of round to de-clutter the end of round chat.
  • Added slow AFK printouts at the beginning of the round.
  • Fixed AFK players' drugs persisting after the round starts.
  • Updated Anti-cheat plugins to the latest versions.
  • Removed l4d2_user_commands plugin.
    • Functionality is not needed, also has tendency to throw errors, false positives and can cause instability for players.
  • Removed AFK logging from sam_vs plugin.
    • The AFK logging in this plugin is no longer used and is now handled by the Readyup AFK functionality.


This update to larrymod includes a number of recent changes to Zonemod and the L4D2 Competitive Rework [github.com] so a big thanks to all of the developers and contributors on that project. Also thanks to HarryPotter for work on some of the recent custom larrymod/server plugins.

General Fixes/Updates:
  • Fixed a critical exploit that allowed players to retrieve other players their IP address.
  • Fixed possible issues in the deadman matchmode if server owners use deprecated confogl_personalize.
  • Disabled confogl's haymaker blocking as it's already being dealt with by l4d2_tank_attack_control, which is loaded in every matchmode on the repo.
  • Updated a bunch of plugin sourcefiles syntax by removing unnecesary public access modifiers.
  • Added Chinese translations for autopause and bequiet.
  • Added/Updated Spanish translations for playermanagement and readyup.
  • Updated l4d_tank_control_eq:
    • Updated Syntax.
    • All spectators will now be informed of who will become the Tank and when they go 2nd pass (instead of just Casters)
    • Players that disconnect before getting their Tank will now get their Tank back upon reconnecting (if it hasn't spawned)
    • If a substitute player joins after someone has already had a tank, the sub will not get a Tank before the other players have had theirs.
    • Added ConVar tankcontrol_force_windowwhich controls the amount of time in seconds to "reserve" the initial Tank selection after they disconnect or spectate until after a player gets tank. (Off by default)

Folks, please be careful about clicking on links in messages coming to others. In the past 48 hours I have had Oinker, Sqid, PAIN, Chinesenewyear, Imalumberjack, and Sweatshack all reach out with the same 'script'.

They start with "yo bro", "can you help me out?" They always say the EXACT following text: "Can u please vote for my csgo team at fetown" "need 2 more votes" "team Quartz" and then a link to https://(double slash) (dot) fetown (dot) net (slash). Pleaes be careful about going to this site. If you do turn off scripts on the browser and/or use an isolated computer or a VM.
