RECENT ANNOUNCEMENTS
🦊Kitfox Turns 10! 🎂
The Humble Beginnings
The team that would become Kitfox Games started working together in June 2013 in Montreal, Canada. Our first game, Shattered Planet was released a year later. It’s a rogue-like in space and it’s got all that classic Kitfox charm you’re used to seeing with our games. It’s got systems, heart, and silliness. If you’d like to go back to the beginning, it’s on sale now!

Our second game, Moon Hunters, is what really put us in the public eye, with a Kickstarter in 2014 and released in 2016. It’s a co-op rogue-like with a “personality test RPG” element, plus flavors of ancient Assyria, a la the Epic of Gilgamesh. You could even get a 4 pack of Moon Hunters during the sale for you and three friends to experience together.

Finding Our Feet
After that, we felt like we'd started figuring things out. Our first published game, The Shrouded Isle came in 2017 to rousing applause. Its procedurally generated villagers are fun to get to know, until you have to sacrifice them.

Then in 2018 we launched a second Kickstarter, this time for a little game called Boyfriend Dungeon. The team had the wild idea of combining a dating sim with dungeon crawler, and we had no idea how many people would be on board.

To our surprise the Kickstarter was a huge success and even though we were dealing with a global pandemic, we were able to develop and release both the demonpunk detective game Lucifer Within Us (2020) and Boyfriend Dungeon (2021) during lockdown.

All of that has also helped us support other amazing developers, who honor us and trust us with publishing their games. We can especially call out David Dunham trusting us with Six Ages: Ride Like the Wind (2019) since it now has an announced sequel, Six Ages 2: Lights Going Out, coming out this summer!

You can start your journey to Glorantha with Six Ages: Ride like the Wind and even carry over some of your choices into Six Ages 2 when it releases. You can wishlist Six Ages 2 here and play the all-new demo here, just released today!

The Golden Chapter

The last year or two of our communications have been fairly dominated by Dwarf Fortress, and good reason. It’s a powerhouse of systems and stories, with more layers in its simulation to learn every day. We’ll hopefully keep supporting its creators Tarn & Zach for a long, long time, but this is a golden moment. The beginning of the rest of our lives, as it were.

During last year’s anniversary sale, we announced our partnership with Studio Any Percent to publish the cozy community-builder, Mossfield Origins. The game has come a long way since then and we can’t wait to meet Andie and Everett when we depart to our new space world. You can wishlist Mossfield Origins here and read our latest update. Development continues!

The heart-meltingly cute dog photography game Pupperazzi recently won a Canadian Indie Game Award for best Mobile/Casual Game! Congrats to the team at Sundae Month who also celebrated the release of the Switch port. You can get this irrestistably cute game on sale now too!

And speaking of award-winning, the Dwarf Fortress team, winning of the 2023 DICE award for best Strategy/Sim Game is now back to work on more visual upgrades and gearing up for an Adventure Mode overhaul! Our latest update adds baby sprites to all plants, animals and creatures which you can read more about here!

Here and Now

We are so thankful to be able to celebrate 10 amazing years of Kitfox Games. We’d like to give a major thank you to all of our fans over the years for playing our games, sharing them with your friends and supporting indie game development. The Kitfox team has already been working on two new games that will be announced soon. Both extremely on-brand, plus more ambitious than anything we’ve done in the past!

We’d also like to thank all the folks who have worked with us over the years to make our games shine. Whether it be Kitfoxes past and present or our contractors and collaborators, we wouldn’t have been able to accomplish our goals without you!

Here's to many more decades to come!

Newest title seems 3x overpriced, sorry.

Not my favorite publisher, the moderators are unfriendly towards the discussion of DRM-free practices. Shame!

Hello everyone, I'm a french guy so sorry by advance for eventual mistake. Loved Shattered Planet. Unfortunately it's been a while since I can play it. Could you please do something for it? I would be much more confident in discords games. Thank You?

It would appear the discord link is not right. Seems like a browser link and not a proper discord invite :)

Now that Moon Hunter's has been released I wanted to say I love how communicative you were during the development process. I loved getting those monthly emails about the status of your game - more often than not I get interested in an in-development game but completely forget about it. Getting emails once a month was nice to remind me, and not too much that I marked it as spam. And when I got that last email about it being ready I was very excited :) I'm glad you had a good launch!
