Welcome to Stop Direct, the opposition to Steam Direct.

Steam Direct is VALVE's replacement for Steam Greenlight, planned for Spring 2017, apparently due the amount of shovelware constantly being submitted. Unlike Greenlight, which had a one time Access Fee (100% of the proceeds from the fee are donated to Child's Play[www.childsplaycharity.org], a charitable organization, and it is unkown if this will continue with Steam Direct), Steam Direct will have a fee for every submission, and VALVE is considering making this fee anywhere from $100 to as much as $5,000 (RIP Indie games). Unfortunatley, or perhaps fortunately, there is nothing left to say, as the only information VALVE has given us is found in this article and this post .

• A reasonable fee If VALVE puts a $200 or $300 fee on Steam Direct, it won't be the end of the world. However, once it gets up to $500, then it just gets unreasonable. Many games submitted to Greenlight are "home-made," made by a singe developer, and not a team, and it is often these games that are the most fun. However, as these games are home-made, the devs have a lower budget, and many would be unable to pay a $500 fee for each game.

• Democracy Steam Direct is planned to do-away with voting and just let you in if you pay the fee. This is the very feature that made Greenlight successful so many years ago, and now VALVE plans to replace it with a money-grabbing system. If not democracy, VALVE should at least look through each game before letting it through the system, as not doing so would probably lead to more crappy games then there are on Greenlight.

• Recruit Please take out the time to invite some people to the group. Just don't spam, that makes us look bad.
• Not be annoying Please do not annoy people about Steam Direct, that is how groups like this get taken down. It is obvious that people will stil spam, but please don't.
