ABOUT Early Access Refund Group

Welcome Alpha Sufferers!

This is the sister of DayZ Player Refund Group. It was spawned from the realisation that Alpha abuse is bigger than just one game. It’s endemic across the entire Steam platform. Approximately 75% of Early Access games don’t get to final.

Our mission is to galvanise Steam to self-regulate. We are advocating an Alpha Covenant. This is a cluster of best practices and performance benchmarks during the Alpha cycle. Our intention is to assist failing devs, not to restrict good ones. Studios don’t have to attain all but, should they fail most, that’s indicative of a problem. Steam should create an Alpha Support Mechanism to intervene where necessary. It’s steam’s shop so they have a duty of care.

EA’s affords studios capital without a publisher's caveats or controls . Subsequently, there exists a deficit in commercial expertise. Steam must ensure Alphas are properly provisioned for. Future Dev’s need the model protected and players also deserve a product with continuity.

Our aims are fair and reasonable. This is in everyone's collective interest. So join our cause and be the catalyst for change.

Why buy early access games you do know there's a huge chance the game could fail or shut down, that's quite on you. You're taking a risk with any early access game you'd buy.

I've only bought to 2 EA games and have definatly learned my lesson. Regardless there should be a concrete set of rules for these early access games. The cash grabs are completely out of control and SOMEONE should be held accountable for it. If I sell you a box and tell you one day it will be full, and you buy it. Then the fault is yours. But if Best Buy sells me a box from a manufacturer, they are responsible to refund my box if it's not filled by the manufacturer within the time they claimed that said box would be full. I would also expect them to stop selling them.
Anything less is just bad business. Bad analogy, I know. LOL :steamfacepalm:

People still have to buy them. IMO gamers are getting more cautious of the EA model, so our message is working.
