This group is dedicated to people who play the classic PC version of Halo Combat Evolved, both singleplayer or multiplayer.

Halo Combat Evolved for PC is an extremely well maintained millenium transition classic for the first person view shooters genre.

The PC version of the game is actively supported by original creators, the Bungie Software, involving handful of essential patches and modifications, allowing the PC players to easily enjoy Halo on modern systems, including customizable field of view and fully operational multiplayer.

Worthy of note is the Single Player Version 3 (SPV3) redux overhaul to Halo Combat Evolved, bringing further franchise assets to reimagine the classic and re-live it in engaging, thoroughly modernized way. The SPV3 is entirely downloadable and installs upon giving a valid PC-CD key.

Multiplayer-only enhanced version of Halo Combat Evolved is known under the name of Halo Custom Edition. Similar to SPV3, it is entirely downloadable and installs upon giving a valid PC-CD key. Most multiplayer activity revolving around the original Halo focuses around the Custom Edition.

The SPV3 installer already comes along with the Custom Edition, which it requires to proceed.

Either way, I recommend looking up the dedicated PC Gaming Wiki[pcgamingwiki.com] page of Halo Combat Evolved for further details and instructions, perhaps also trying out the official, downloadable demo version first. Recommendable installments to the full version are:

(1.) Patch 1.10 PC for the classic version of Halo / Patch 1.10 CE for the Custom Edition
(2.) "Chimera" mod
(3.) "Anticheat 2" mod
(4.) Custom screen resolution; shortcut target extension: -vidmode [width],[height],[refresh rate]

Ingame, press F6 and move your computer mouse to customize the field of view, then hit F6 again to store. In the multiplayer section, press "Get List" to obtain actual data on active servers. Proceeding through any installator, skip GameSpy service if offered, as it is discontinued.

Sure thing. When it comes to Halo , I think the big step could be the Installation 01 , which is supposed to be an open source free, fanmade game, available for all platforms.

I still love the Halo universe as a whole but sadly as long as there isn't any news about the PC releases I think I'll quit the group (because I need some cleaning and for IRL personal reasons)

Hi, Tenderized. I play both Combat Evolved and Custom Edition, as well as Halo 2. CE is still supported, but there weren't any digital release, so obtaining a legal copy may be a problem. The biggest mod for Custom Edition so far is SPV3.1, which is a complete overhaul of CE. New version is currently being developed. For Halo 2, there is a Project Cartographer, which restores multiplayer. At their site you can download full patched game installer for free. Some consider this piracy, but there is no way to play this game legally since the closure of GFWL. There is also Eldewrito, restoration of Halo 3 multiplayer based on cancelled Halo Online. Microsoft DMCA'd it for using copyrighted content from Online. But it is actually still going and living if you manage to find the files somewhere else.

Hey everyone been playing Halo since early 02 and finally got to finish the fight in 2018, since I never owned an Xbox 360 or any console after the original until just a few months ago. I'll be getting a One X probably by christmas to play MCC, Halo 5 and Infinite next year. But damn do the 343 games suck so far. But anyways, do you guys play Combat Evolved, Custom Edition or both?

Same with me, Combat Evolved typically I get to 120 degrees, but with other games, such as Doom 3 that we are both fans of, I go with 100~105 degrees.
