An Important Announcement

This is going to be a long and wordy message, but I urge you to read it in its entirety—thanks!


For a long time now, DKS Gaming has been an important part of my life. From its beginnings in 2013 December, DKS has always been about providing a gameplay experience rarely found elsewhere; for me, it was, and continues to be, focused primarily on the community above all.

When I first started DKS Gaming with my fellow co-owners Yehboi and SteeezL (known as Defying Death at the time), all we really wanted was to make a server with add-ons and rules we ourselves would have always wanted to play on (Sandbox servers allowing PvP damage were rare, ya know?). What I hadn't predicted, of course, was how popular our little server was going to get. In the early days, the only non-User ranks were Admin and Super Admin; but, as the months went on, more and more players started joining. More importantly, they were the same players from the day before, and the day before that. To my surprise, we had a community building up and I was ecstatic. Soon enough, I began working on getting a website running, a forum up, a donation system, and of course, admins. That's when a fella named Holy_Darkho came on the server. The rest, as they say, is history.

Here we are now: July 3rd, 2015. It’s been a long 1.5 years. It’s been a long line of laughs, joys, and general weirdness; but, I’ve decided it’s time for me to move on. I’ll cut to the chase: I plan on shutting down the servers permanently by August 1st, 2015. This should give all players ample time to transfer their saved dupes. This is something I’ve been thinking about for quite some time and I believe now would be the best time to announce it.

DKS has always been a success for me because I never intended it to grow into what it has become today. I don’t mean that in a negative way—I’m saying it’s blown all my expectations in what I thought I could do. In case you weren’t aware, DKS is all run at home, by myself. Everything. A lot of things were trial and error at first, but I became more experienced as time went on. I enjoyed the journey and continued because of it. Now, I suppose you could say, I’m enjoying it less because I’m, well, finished. I can honestly say I’ve completed everything I set out to do years ago. In fact, I’ve done even more than that. And now it’s time for me to do something else. That isn’t to say you’ll never see me again on Gmod or on Steam. I’ll still be here, obviously—just not as a red stripe on a scoreboard.

As with all things in DKS Gaming fashion, we’re going to go out in style. I’m planning various events that’ll eventually lead up to the final celebration on July 31st, 2015. I’ll also be making a big compilation video which will include screenshots, videos, and the names of every staff, VIP, Respected, and group member of DKS Gaming.
