Something very big may be happening for the Chemist. I won't say what.
He won't be making it into TF2. All I will say is the project isn't dead. It simply changed.

Haven't really talked about this here, just with Bri in private. There is a problem we need to address.

The numbers on Steam are not accurate. TF2 isn't actually in the top 10 most played games. Not by a long shot.

There is a site that tracks the actual numbers. Most of the people in there right now are people trying to farm items for money. There are actually only about 5,000 active players now who are actually playing the game.

That said, TF2 really is pretty much dead. There's not enough of a community for TF2 that we're ever going to be able to get someone with coding knowledge to ever make the mod a reality.

We are still very interested in the Chemist's story though, and there are plans for a big animated short film telling his back story. I've just not had much time these days to work on it because of work taking over my life. There is a script that's about 60-65% done. And we have some new models and textures and ♥♥♥♥.

The mod is dead, but the story will still live on without it.

I meant to make this announcement when I posted this art earlier this week, but I've had a lot on my mind lately so I guess it just kind of slipped.

As I've stated here before, we're in the process of making a new short. It will probably be about 10 minutes long and it's still in the script stages, so it won't be for a while. When it does come out though, it's bringing a lot of new stuff to the workshop with it.

•New textures for the Chemist. He is no longer the glowing yellow man with flat textures. He now blends in with the other mercs.
I have plans on fixing the clipping issues with his chest.

•2 brand new variations of the Chemist model based on his past. There is also a 3rd model that was made for the short, which you can find here: https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1665889164

•1 Brand new character: Xander Brown. The mann who created the Chemist's robotic skeleton after his original was stolen by the insane Dr. Ludwig.

•We were also going to make a Guard Dog for this project, but Maxxi unknowingly stole our thunder and beat us to it lol.

I couldn't contain myself. I wanted it to be a surprise, but I'm too excited. Once Million Dollar Mann comes out, an update will be released for the Chemist. Here's the new look.

Major props to Bri for her excellent texture work fixing this guy up. No more glowing yellow man. Now he fits in a lot more with the rest of the cast.

Bri and I sat back and took a good look at the Chemist and thought, "What can we do to better make him fit in with the rest of the classes?" As he is right now, he stands out like a sore thumb when put next to the other mercs. We're well aware of this and we're working on a big update to his textures.

We've already finished revamping his red textures. His clothes have better shading on them, and his head textures are completely redone.

The next time you see the Chemist, he's going to look very different from how you remember him, so be prepared for that. We can guarentee you however that he fits in with the other mercs perfectly now. Bri did some shading work on his face, and I did a little bit of work on his skin color.

And just a little update on Million Dollar Mann: The script is maybe about 1/4 of the way done. This short is going to be a bit lengthy. Possibly 10 minutes? A lot of time and love is going into writing this story. We want this to be as amazing as we can make it and I'm very excited to start working on this.

When the short is done, Xander's model will be released to the Public and the Chemist's new textures will be updated into SFM. To those who like his legacy textures, they will be available for download on the workshop page on the day of the update.
