Mission Statement:

We are here to foster a healthy, friendly, and mature PVP environment. We do not want a group of players to play for a bit and leave. We are looking to maintain a long term PVP group. While there will be lots of killing, it should be fun. Followed by a friendly revenge killing. :)

We want to raid, and be raided! Without that kind of danger, this kind of game wouldn’t be much fun.

We also want to never lose the investment of your time or ours. Right now we back up locally every 30 minutes to the server. Daily, we backup all game saves to an offsite server via automated scripts. Those saves are kept for 7 days.

About Us:

Our tribe has been actively playing for a couple months and thoroughly enjoys the game. We created a new server for the sole purpose of creating a friendly community (Not too friendly, this is a PVP server after all ;) ). We have heard many horror stories of griefing in official servers and admins, like myself, will not stand for it. We will be as active as we can at mitigating and preventing griefing. Developing a strong community and having a higher game difficulty is part of our preventive measures. Our admins include a software-engineer/sysadmin. We strive to provide the best server uptime we can.

Max Wild Dino Level: 120 Max Lvl Dinos, same as official
Taming: 3x
Experience: 2x
Building Damage: 90% reduction (Prevents gratuitous structure damage when being raided while offline. Cabinets and storage will still be easy to access since they are wood)
Character/Dino Hunger 0.5
Character/Dino Thirst 0.5
Day Cycle: Day/Night ratio 3:1 (full day approx 52 min real time)
Character Downloads: No
Enabled 3rd Person View: Yes
Map Location: Off
Server Capacity: 50 spots. (This will change on an as needed basis.)

Server Rules:

The community can suggest new rules and we will vote on them as soon as we have a voting system in place. All rules can be found on the steam group. Please join it. (Linked above)

Basic rules include:
Have fun
No cheating (That’s a ban)
No Blocking Cave entrances
No excess building destruction. Get the goods and get out.
Yes, passive pets can be killed. It is your job to protect your pets in your structures. Thus the structure damage reduction.

We will not be accepting any new admins at this time for any reason. We do have experienced game and server system admins already.

If you are outside of your official ‘Base’ you are free game for other players. While some may be nice, other’s may not be. In the middle of a tame? Better protect yourself! This is PVP with Dinosaurs, not Care Bear land.

First off, thank you for all for choosing Californication and playing with us!.

We have had some misconceptions beginning to arise. We will take this opportunity to address this misconception with you and with the rest of the server.

We the admins decided to host this server with the intention to foster a growing, mature, and fun community of players that we could play with in what we considered a enjoyable/fair/balanced PvP environment.

Unfortunately, there seems to be a negative stigma about admins that actively participate in PvP. The conversation has come up publicly a few times. A select few of the server's members seem to get the impression that the admins should not be able to play with the rest of the community. This select few are quick to point fingers and claim that the admins are abusing their powers, as admins, by participating in PvP.

We would like to clear the air!

We, the admins, have only ever used admin powers to host server wide events, create event dinosaurs, or build a server arena to host said events. You will see us actively use admin dinos for community services we are engaged in. Everything else we have acquired has been obtained over time in a legitimate fashion. Being the first group of players on the server, we have had hundreds of hours of a head start before the community started to grow. So naturally we appear to be more advanced that the rest of the server though there are tribes on our server that are closing that gap more and more each day.

We, the admins, fully intend to play with the rest of the community. (We love this game too! :) ) We wish to do anything and everything all other tribes on the server are capable of doing. After all, we are just players like everyone else; the only difference being we pay the bill every month. We have no ill intent towards any group of players in particular.

Recently, we decided it was okay for us to start participating in server PvP. We attacked a tribe that had technology comparable or more advanced offense than ours. We felt comfortable with the decision and our recent entry to pvp.

Unfortunately, our involvement in PvP has caused us to be accused of "abusing admin power". There have been attempts to paint the admins in a negative image for all the server to see. Though most servers' admins would be quick to ban these types of behavior, we have decided to simply show the community our intentions.

That being said, we are not choosing to ally up with anyone at this point. We are not "playing favorites", we are simply playing PvP with all of you. We do engage in trades and are willing to trade. As we stated, this is not care bear land. We do not want to have a server full of players who are not willing to receive what they dish out to others. If you attack a tribe expect to be attacked back. There very well may be a rivalry that evolves as well. That's the fun of PvP!

In summary, we ,the admins, are here to play with the community. We are going to participate in all events(usually were just hosting them though) and PvP with the rest of the community. We are going to be part of the community. We do not abuse our powers nor do we appreciate people suggesting we do. We do not play favorites and we certainly are not aiming to be the most powerful tribe on the server. We just want to come home from work and have fun just like everyone else. :)
