Hey everyone, long time no speak! Cracco, Newt, and I are announcing that registration for the 25th anniversary tournament, which will take place in December, is now open. We are gauging community interest and involvement before finalizing the specifics, however, we will most likely go with either a KOTH or an ELO-based league leading to the KOTH. If you were around back then, we hosted tournaments for the 15th anniversary too, as well as the Palace of Malice tournament in 2015 and the KOTH the year after that.

Let us hear from you about what you'd like to see in a tournament to commemorate 25 years of AvP. You can sign up here, but match organization will be done through Discord, so it will be easiest if you sign up in the official AvP community Discord server there (link is at the top of the group's description). The prizes are as yet undecided. Suggestions are welcome.

We are hosting an 8-man KOTH tournament next Friday as our annual tournament. The first-place prize will be a single Steam game of your choice up to $40 USD, and the second-place prize will be a single Steam game of your choice up to $20 USD.

I know it's been a long, long time since the group's last announcement. I just wanted to let everyone know that Grzegorz, SkorpioN, and I are all still alive and around (in some way, shape, or form), and we appreciate everyone who's become a member for joining and being a part of the AvP Classic 2000 community, a small and rare community at that! Simply joining this group is a way of expressing that you'd like to be in the loop with this game's activity and would like to be informed of any events, matches, new information, and all that jazz. When Newt, Grzegorz, and I created this group, we didn't know if we'd even get 50 members, let alone 6 times that. I want to remind everyone that this is a group by fans for fans.

I do want to give people some updates so this doesn't become a totally dead, useless group. Lately, I've been finding more people online playing AvP Classic, so it's actually not so rare to find joiners to a game, or to even see a game going on when browsing current servers. This game's multiplayer base rises and falls in waves; lately it seems that there is a bit more activity than usual, so start up a game and see who joins! As for other community news, we have a new version of a coop map coming soon from a modder named Audiophi, who has been retooling an old AvP Gold map called Lockdown4, making it suitable for coop play. I just tested a beta version of it and can say that it works well and even has some nice quirks and traps that you won't find anywhere else. Also, an experienced player named Astriven has been looking for some partners for coop action. If you're interested, hit him up on his forum thread here. On top of that, I myself have been doing some on-again off-again work on an AvP Classic website. It's definitely been more of a side project for me, as I've been focusing more of my time on work and L4D2 community activity. The website will be finished eventually though, and is sort of a dedication to the game and compilation of guides, mods, and resources.

Last but not least, I want to address the obvious fact that we haven't had a tournament in over a year. For various reasons that I won't get into, we decided to put a hold on any "official" AVPCT tournament activity indefinitely after last year's tournament. If we don't have a tournament this December, then this will be the first year without an annual tournament since the group's founding. I'm open to having a tournament this year (or not, if nobody's interested), but since it's already December, I think that if we do have one, it will have to be very small. I'm talking like just an 8-person KOTH with random pairings, if we can even pull up the attendance for that. No ideas for a prize yet or how maps get decided. I'm asking for some input here. If nobody's interested, we don't do it, simple as that.

This lies with you guys; I'd love to see some enthusiasm for even a small tournament. If YOU have any ideas or interest, please let us know, don't just wait for others to post first.
