That's not a gaming system. At least not one that would run games that are considered "new" by today's relatively high hardware requirements.

So.. I'm not sure what your point was except that people have the option to build their own system. You're right about that.

But, leaving it to the professionals ultimately gives you a much better system in terms of upgrading in the future and not being capped into what you're using at the time (500 watt power supply, for instance).

Love my Area-51 (both the new and the old version) and my Aurora R4. I gave my Mx18 to my kid for gaming while he's away from the house.

Anyone here with a GTX 675m installed in a m17x R3? I'm having trouble finding the right modded driver!

has any one had issues with the i7-3610qm on the mx14 as mine has un overclocked it self as I tested it is now 2.2934 as it should be 2.4 which alienware overclocked it to

I had an in-home service performed on my M18X with dual nvidia 680m and just opening the chasis in order to get to the GPU took about half an hour.

if anyone can here me, is it possible to change the gpu in an mx14 r2? my freind is donating his gtx 680 and i plan to unlarge my case a bit to fit it in.

Alan The Alien - Your i7 is still a very powerful chip, more than enough for any gaming task. If you want to upgrade for work reasons, or just because, then I would recommend a new motherboard in the socket 2011 X79 family, with some quad channel RAM and a hexacore intel i7 3930k.

I use the Asus Rampage IV extreme in my desktop and highly recommend it, however if you're not an obsessive overclocker there are much cheaper boards on the market that will do just fine. Start a topic on http://forum.techinferno.com/forum.php if you want more detailed help.

Well, that's not strictly true, some laptops will allow CPU and GPU upgrades and user changeable HDDs are the norm. Unfortunately though Bailey, to the best of my knowledge the GPU on the M14X is soldered to the motherboard, which leaves you ♥♥♥♥ out of luck. :(

No sorry. In a laptop you can only change out the RAM.
