ABOUT Algebraical reviews

Fixing the Steam Scores since 2015.

This group serve to fix the limited score given by Steam to users reviews (good vs bad). It analyses the reviews of the users of a given game, and weight the scores following these rules:

Scoring system
- The review score goes from -1 to 1.
- Σ of the number of users that think that review is helpful * (+1 positive
review , -1 negative review) / Σ total votes
- The score is multiply by a weight.

Weight system:
- The weights goes from 0 to 20.
- The number of characters in the review, short reviews weight much less than long ones.
- The number of reviews done by the reviewer. Many reviews gives you a higher weight, while very few reviews gives 0 weight.
- The number of items (games) own by the reviewer. More item will give more weight.
- The number of hours played. Positive reviews with less hours played than the 20th percentile get a huge penalty.
- Blacklisted users always get 0 weight. Blacklisted users are always decided after much debate in the group forums. These are typically people with proben bias toward reviews, non-disclosure, and so on. (Currently an empty list).
- Whitelisted users get a weight bonus up to 25% of the total weight. Whitelisted users are always decided after much debate in the group forums. These are people who excell beyond others in their reviews. (Currently an empty list).

Consensus score
- The consensus score goes from 0 to infinity. A low consensus indicate that the score review has low samples. Thus when a review score have low consensus score, it shall be taken with caution. As an example, the top popular 1.000 steam apps according to us, have a consesus score of above 6.000 points (positive or negative review score). Since we want this curator to be a discovery system, we include reviews with low consensus score, but never lower than 4000. We recommend that you take reviews under 10.000 consensus score with caution.

- The scores are given by a formula based on users reviews alone. Since this variables change everyday, we also include the date of the calculation.

Other:
- The score is update when you get a higher consensus score. Is not based on the most current date.
- A human comment may be given with extra information
- (Beta) Extra weighted points can be placed in the recomendation system. When you input a list of your own reviews the algorithm temporally whitelist users with similar taste. This is NOT use for the curator. Yet, you can request this on the forums and get a list of games that are taylored only for you.
- We have a curator that keep tracks of the worst games on Steam using the same formula: http://steamproxy.net/groups/avoid_this_games

Disclosure:
- None so far.
