This group is designed to promote play with fellow gamers we can trust. UWAG is a multiplayer haven from the trolls that roam the internet.

We like to keep a friendly, somewhat casual, atmosphere in our gameplay. It is not about leaderboards. It is about having fun and enjoying ourselves. If someone is not having fun in our games, we are not doing something right. Simple as that.

We like to stick with co-op and team games if we can. If you have one that you'd like to play with UWAG, please bring it up in our discussion forum. Or create an event. Every member has the power to create events on the calendar.

We are currently using Discord for voice chat during UWAG events
Invite code can be found in the Private Discussions section of the forums. Come and join us!

It will make communicating together much easier. And it will let everyone know that you are on specifically for the event. Hop on voice chat even if you don't have a mic (at least you can hear us).

(I hope you enjoy the group name. I had to get a little creative. So many names were taken!)

Happy 10th Anniversary

It was 10 years ago today that I first created the Union of Wicked Awesome Gamers. It all came about because of one question. "Why do I have to wait for a LAN party to play games with my friends?" So I took the dive and formed a Steam group. It was meant to fill the time between LAN parties. Kind of quaint now that I think about it.

Our very first game was Rising Storm/Red Orchestra 2. It is a 2011 WWII multiplayer shooter in similar style to the Battlefield series. We had some good times. And some rocky moments.

In the early days, there was really no consensus on what to do with the group. We played mostly competitive games at LAN parties, but the members were shifting toward cooperative play. Some of the old games had trouble running via internet connection, but asking people to spend money on new games was problematic back then (especially if we did not know when or if the game would be played).

In 2014, we started playing No More Room In Hell every October. A free-to-play coop game, it became our regular go-to title for the month. In 2019, we made it specifically a Halloween-night event. A tradition we continue to this day.

In 2016, we started hosting a Monthly Event. It was a hit. The sessions cleared up much of the confusion felt early on. We all knew when people would be online to play and what we would be playing. And our games ran the gamut of style and content.

In 2018 we had our first vote on a new official UWAG game during the Winter Sale. It was here we selected a title we all agreed to purchase and play. It proved to be a success, starting with the first game. Unfortunate Spacemen.

At the end of 2018, we merged with another group, The 1st Order of Role-Players (1ORP). It started as a popular Neverwinter Nights guild, founded by TJ - Excimer in 2004. 1ORP was the first online gaming group I ever joined. I was super excited to have them join us.

Along the way we did many regular weekly events. Rocket League, The Forest, 7 Days to Die, ARK, Starbound, Golf With Your Friends. And who can forget Killing Floor 2.

And here we are in 2024. I am sure there are many other milestones I missed, but I have already spent way too many hours typing this out and pouring over 18(!) too many pages of forum threads. So many memories. Please share yours in the comments below.

I want to give a couple of special shout-outs. Pappymac was key in the early days with recruiting new members and organizing our first events. And he kept that mojo going with his regular Killing Floor 2 sessions for many years. Mr.Foxx has been our biggest contributor in both forum discussions and organizing regular events for games like Rocket League and Valheim. Both of you have done so much to keep this UWAG engine running. I cannot express enough how much I appreciate it.

And I want to say thank you to everyone in the group. I am grateful for the experiences you all have brought here. From debating what to get at each sale, to commiserating over the lack of time to play what we already own, to sharing tips and advice. And let us not forget all the crazy multiplayer experiences we have had together. It has been a blast! And even if you never joined a UWAG game or posted a single thing on the forums, I am still happy you chose to join this little corner of the gaming internet. Thanks!

New Discord Channels for Spontaneous Gaming

Hello fellow gamers,

Hey look. I have something to announce. Hooray!

What's this about? Well, it is about getting more spontaneous multiplayer games going. If you are like me, there are days where you'd love to have someone join you in what you are playing. And some days you want to be left to do your own thing. The problem is, how are others to know the difference?

I am here to announce a new initiative by UWAG. There are 3 new Discord voice channels: Open To Play, Open Game 01, Open Game 02. We will use these to let our fellow members know we are up to play a game together. Here is how it will work:

OPEN TO PLAY - Join this channel if you want to play a game with friends AND you haven't decided what you want to play. If someone else pops in, use the channel to discuss what everyone feels like playing and hopefully get a game going. If you do pick a game, drop down to an Open Game channel.

OPEN GAME 01/02 - Join these channels for when you want others to play YOUR CURRENT GAME. If you already have a group going, you are open to more people joining in (provided there are spots available in-game).

If we can get everyone to adopt this system, it will greatly facilitate gameplay between members. And maybe that spontaneous gaming will spark some new regular events. Who knows. At least we will get some more games in.

Please note, just being logged in to Discord is not enough to convey you are open to game. I am logged in all the time for various reasons outside of UWAG. Please use the channels above to make your intentions clear.

Wanted to share this review from someone who purchased Sons of the Forest. Thought some of you may appreciate it..

Day 1: I will never eat these tiny adorable animals, I want nothing more than to build a comfortable home in this beautiful forest, I will gather plants and become a humble farmer, I will attack nothing that doesn't attack me first for every creature is a potential friend no matter how creepy they may look.

Day 25: I can't remember the last time I slept, I have eaten nothing but human arms for days now, I shot a cannibal in the ass with a stun gun, I bounced a baby off the wall of a cave and felt no remorse. If they ever add the option to eat my friend I would consider it.
