Two days ago, Spartan team NOBLE investigated an anomaly on the surface of planet Reach after encountering a small covenant strike force near the Visegrad Relay. This was not an anomaly however, the covenant is on Reach and they have deployed several thousand ground forces and had 2 Heavy Corvettes, one deployed troops while the other attacked ONI Sword Base, this one was destroyed by orbital MAC cannons. As per the Winter Contingency the UNSC gathered one of the largest ground offensives against the covenant in recorded history, deemed Operation: HAMMERSTRIKE. The covenant had deployed on the Viery territory, setting up a landing zone for additional covenant forces and deployed heavy Anti Air Cannons to defend this landing zone, when the assault began Spartan team Gaia cleared out 2 AA guns while Spartan team Noble cleared out 2 others, making an opening for the UNSC frigates Grafton and Spitfire to provide support for the ground forces. Meanwhile the marine seventh squad, assisted by Spartan G-120 and an ODST Corporal Mikayla Johnson was attacked by some sort of highly trained special operations elite, which managed to single handedly, until an elite Zealot class elite arrived to assist, gravely wound two soldiers SgtMaj. Daniel Farris, and GySgt. Kristen Hall, it is unknown whether the two will survive. The elite managed to wound Corporal Johnson, and Spartan G-120 before killing himself, mortally wounding GySgt. Hall, and before that pinned SgtMaj Farris to a pelican with some sort of spike, stabbing through his hands and ankles, crippling him for the time being. After these engagements, the Spartan teams eventually shut down the shields of some landing zone towers deemed 'Spires'. The UNSC frigates Grafton and Spitfire destroyed these Spires with MAC rounds, we thought we had won the day... We were so wrong... A covenant Supercarrier by the name of 'Long Night of Solace' entered Reach's atmosphere and obliterated the two frigates with it's energy projectors. The Supercarrier has started to deploy multiple air and ground units over the Viery territory and the remaining UNSC forces are holding them off barely. The Supercarrier has retreated out of range of Reach's orbital MAC cannons and is holding position there while the remaining covenant corvette terrorizes the area.
