TrottingHamRP Rules
Terms of Service

Due to the nature of the game, we cannot always control what other people post, do, or share with others.

By accepting, you acknowledge that you may be subjected to potentially NSFW/18+ content, and that you are both of age to view such materials and are okay with seeing them.

Not Safe For Work/Adult content is ALLOWED. For the integrity of both the server and its players, any players found to be under the age of 18 will be removed without notice.

All players must have accepted this disclaimer. This disclaimer does not count as consent between players for inappropriate actions made in or out of character, or outside of the server. You should always check a player's profile by pressing T on them, or just by asking them if they want to be involved in any explicit talk or roleplay. Do NOT harass or attempt to force players into anything they aren't comfortable with!

Rules

Short Rules

- Racism or sexually abusive comments toward others will not be tolerated.
- Don't impersonate staff members.
- Please be respectful to other players.
- Don't abuse the !unstuck command.
- To reference the rules, use !rules.
- Just use common sense, but if you are unsure, please scroll down.

Staff members hold the right to stop any actions they deem game-breaking, exploitable, or unfun for other players. If you believe that a staff member is making a ruling incorrectly or by bias, you may request a staff member of higher standing if available.

RDM (Random Deathmatch)

Random Deathmatch is when one player kills another player without in-character reasons.

In-character reasons can be things like:
1. They stole from me.
2. I am actively defending myself.
3. I am mugging/raiding someone who isn’t compliant or has identified themselves as dangerous.
4. When both players are okay with one or both of them getting killed.
5. When a player is killed by any other basic functions of DarkRP.

In-character reasons are NOT:
1. My character is crazy and kills people.
2. Someone upset me (excluding hits).
3. "My friend and I were shooting at each other and someone got in the crossfire."

If a player is RDM'ed, you must not loot their body. You must return anything dropped to the player that died.

If you are RDM'ed or witness someone being RDM'ed, please /report it to staff immediately.

Metagaming and NLR

Metagaming is the use of knowledge that you have not gained in character and is not allowed.

Things that are "meta" and not in-character knowledge are:
1. Crime Adverts.
2. Job Titles (excludes Law Enforcement and Mayor jobs).
3. Any information you gathered in a past life or someone else has done before they died (NLR/New Life Rule).
4. Any information gained by exploiting game mechanics (PAC3 camera, Simple Third Person, or otherwise).
5. Anything said in /ooc chat.

New Life Rule implies that once your character has died, they have started a new life upon respawn, and you may not return to the place you died for 10 minutes (unless you were RDM'ed).

You may not retaliate against a player who killed you in any way, even in the case of RDM.

Props and Entities

Props must not be abused. A player is abusing props if they are:
1. Using a prop to enter a base or bypass a door that is locked.
2. Climbing to an unreachable area with a prop.
3. Spawning an excess of props to a point of spamming.
4. Trapping a player with a prop.
5. Closing off an area without any other way to access it with a prop.
6. Riding around the map with a prop.

Keep any entities you are not using cleaned up, as excess entities can stress the server.

If you cannot remove an entity you spawned and are done using it, please call a staff member to remove it.

Building and Basing

1. All bases and buildings must have at least 1 point of access.
2. Do not use any props with 1-way visibility, or any textures that create 1-way visibility.
3. Do not create a "Kill Box." A Kill Box is when a player is given an extreme disadvantage through the way a base is built, either while entering a base or attempting to access goods.
4. Bases may not contain areas you have to crouch or jump to get around in.
5. You may not use props to hide yourself or to shrink your effective hitbox in your base while attacking anyone inside it. You may use these methods to hide if you are not engaged in combat.
6. All fading door open times must last a minimum of 7 seconds.
7. All fading doors must remain a fair distance away from each other and any other doors. You may not close a fading door that has been unlocked in the last 7 seconds, or while a player is unlocking it.
8. Do not use invisible, or nearly invisible props in a base. The shape of all props must be clearly defined unless the prop is no-collided.
9. You may set up an area as an "RP Zone" if you wish to disengage from DarkRP and conduct a private roleplay.

RP Zones Rules:
9a. RP Zones may not be targets for crime.
9b. RP Zones cannot have anything worth committing a crime over, such as printers, the mayor, or entities that can be taken.
9c. RP Zones cannot have any players with a hit placed on them. Having a hit placed on you will nullify the RP Zone, and you may be killed in order for a hit to be completed.
9d. RP Zones are voided if anyone enters an RP Zone is wanted.
9e. RP Zones are voided if they break any of the previous rules of an RP zone.
9f. If an RP Zone is voided, it may be subject to all regular DarkRP interactions, such as Raiding and Theft/Intrusion.

10. A KOS line may be added to a base. A KOS line must not extend beyond the doors of any property you are protecting. You may not put a KOS line on a public area, such as a road or sidewalk.

KOS Line Rules:
10a. Only players with a job in the Criminals category may set up a KOS Zone.

11. You may not build in any areas with hostile NPCs. This includes using props to your advantage against the NPCs. Using props to your advantage to fight NPCs can result in having your level, resources, and bank reset.
12. You may not block off an area that is essential to the server's full function. These areas include any government buildings, The Forest, The Bar, The Mine, The Underground, The Bottom, and anywhere where a player might need to get to (such as the park where a corrupt banker and weed buyer are). You may ask for admin approval to block these areas off during events.
13. Please make all bases and buildings make sense. I haven't restricted much in terms of what props people can spawn to allow creativity, but creating some super sci-fi base doesn’t really fit the immersion.

Crime

Crime is classified into two separate categories: Violent and Non-Violent. If you are committing a Non-Violent Crime, you may not initiate a Violent Crime against the same person/location.

You may not commit the same crime against a player/location for 20 minutes after a crime has ended. Targeting the same player repeatedly, excluding the Mayor, is considered harassment and is not tolerated.

Players may react violently to defend themselves or others against a crime. You may not attack a player who has mugged you after they announce the crime is over. When a crime is over, you must use /Advert to announce it is over.

Only jobs in the criminal class may commit Violent Crimes. All jobs, excluding Government jobs and ooc, may commit Non-Violent Crimes.

Violent Crime:

All Violent Crime must be announced using /Advert.

Raids:
1. You may not enter an area and declare a raid after you are in.
2. A Raid’s intention must not be to kill another player. If a player is actively fleeing a Raid, you may not kill them.
3. Once a Raid has begun, you have 10 minutes to leave the place you are Raiding.

Mugging:
1. The max you may ask for in a mugging is 5000. Demanding more than this will nullify your crime.
2. You must give a player 10 seconds to comply before acting violently.
3. You must not attack a player who is typing.
4. You may not mug a player in an area with more than 3 witnesses.

Players may react violently to defend themselves against a crime. You may not attack a player who has mugged you after they announce the crime is over and they have left your sight.

Kidnapping:
1. You may kidnap any player who is a valid target of crime.
2. You may not make in-character sexual threats or do anything of that nature to another player in character or out of character.
3. You may hold a player for a maximum of 20 minutes, during which they are your responsibility.
4. You must feed your prisoner. If your prisoner starves, it is considered RDM.
5. You may not kidnap a player to kill them.
6. If you have a kidnapper with you, you must not try to escape while they are actively holding you. You must comply with them until they free you or staff does. You may request staff if a player is intentionally griefing you.

Non-Violent Crime:

Non-Violent Crime can be conducted by any class other than Government and OOC.

Pickpocketing:
1. You may not pickpocket a player who is AFK.
2. You may not kill a player you are pickpocketing.
3. You must /Advert when you are done pickpocketing.

Stealth:
1. You may steal from a player with the intention of committing theft if they have anything worth stealing.
2. You may not steal from a player just to grief them or with the intention of getting them killed.
3. If you are caught stealing from a player, you may not engage in Violent Crime until they allow it.

Miscellaneous

1. Vehicles:
- Do not use vehicles to run over other players intentionally (VDM).
- Do not park or abandon vehicles in a way that blocks paths or entrances.
- Vehicles are for transportation, not for causing chaos or damage.

2. Props and Building:
- Do not use props to build in the middle of the road or in public spaces.
- Props should not be used to trap or obstruct other players unless it is part of a valid roleplay scenario.

3. Chat and Communication:
- Keep OOC chat respectful and avoid spamming.
- Do not use OOC chat for in-character (IC) purposes.
- Respect other players' boundaries in both IC and OOC communications.

4. Jobs and Roles:
- Follow the guidelines and duties associated with your selected job or role.
- Do not misuse or exploit your role to gain unfair advantages.

5. Events:
- Server events will be organized by staff and may have specific rules and guidelines.
- Participate in events fairly and follow the event-specific rules provided by the staff.

6. Reporting Issues:
- Use the appropriate channels to report any issues, rule violations, or concerns.
- Do not take matters into your own hands; let the staff handle rule enforcement.

7. General Behavior:
- Treat all players with respect and courtesy.
- Avoid behavior that disrupts the game or negatively impacts the experience of others.

8. Consequences:
- Violating these rules may result in warnings, temporary bans, or permanent bans depending on the severity of the offense.
- The staff's decisions are final, and arguing or disrespecting staff members may result in further consequences.

By playing on our server, you agree to abide by these rules and terms of service. Enjoy your time on Trottingham DarkRP, and help us maintain a fun and respectful community!
