I'm going to disband the group in a few days for several reasons:
- this group is basically inactive
- for those who want to play Forged Alliance, there is a much better alternative:
FAForever, which is a 3rd party lobby. It's awesome, free, and has been rendered compatbile with the Steam version.

I wrote about GPGNet, the oldest and main lobby for multiplayer SC/FA in my last news.

It was shut down on March 1st.
We now know the reason: the contract with the provider ended (it seems it was hosted by a 3rd party company).
Moreover, the employees at GPG announced they won't get GPGNet back online (I guess the cost of a new contract was too high, given the number of users).

As a result, players will be able to play FA online only on Steam, and FAF.

Another change: CDkeys of boxed version are now redeemable on Steam. Any CDKey of SC or FA will grant you the SC:Gold (SC+FA).
I guess all of you have SC or FA on your account, yet it may be usefull if a friend wants to join you (moreover, buying SC only to get SC:Gold seems to be the best option).

It's been a long time. How have you been?

Here are some news about the FA community:
You may know that until 1 month ago, the FA community was split into 3: the GPGNet lobby (the oldest one, 5 yr old), the Forged Alliance Forever lobby (aka FAF, the new, community-made lobby), and Steam (us!).

But GPGNet closed 03/01st. The demat. versions of FA using it (from Implulse) got patched to use the Steam lobby.

So, now, 2 lobbies remain: the Steam lobby, and FAF.

One of the reason I wasn't very active in this group is...because I was playing on FAF!

The fact that you see how many ppl are online, can chat with them, etc. makes it way better than the Steam lobby.
Also, it's really more active - for example, you have currently 200 connected players on FAF, approx. 15 games running and 4 games awaiting players.
On Steam: 0 games awaiting players, connected players: unknown, and games running: unknow too.

TL;DR: Wanna have a fun time on FA? Grab the FAF lobby, it's free and better than Steam lobby.

-Newcomer tips-
Experimentals are very good, and can wipe a whole army, but are weaks versus air.
Each faction has a "super-experimental": their cost is so high, that it's better to build one only in x2 res games / very long games.
The list of super-XP: Scathis (Artillery) for Cybran, Mavor (Artillery) for UEF, Paragon (Ressource generator) for Aeon, and Ylonna Oss (Nuke Launcher) for Seraphim.

-Advanced tips-
The T2 UEF engineering station, the Kennel, can be used in offense, as it can reclaim other units very fast if they don't have AA.
